Since the game is mostly fixed, the question on many gamers’ minds is whether a Cyberpunk 2077 New Game Plus mode will ever become a reality in this concluded title.
Cyberpunk 2077 has had quite the journey since its initial release, with updates, patches, and improved content like the recent Phantom Liberty expansion enhancing the gameplay. However, the absence of an official Cyberpunk 2077 New Game Plus (NG+) mode remains a hot topic of discussion among the gaming community.
So, is there any hope for players who want to carry over their hard-earned progress to a new playthrough?
No Official New Game Plus Mode in Cyberpunk 2077
If you’re hoping to jump back into the world of Night City and explore it anew, we’re afraid the news isn’t in your favor. As of now, Cyberpunk 2077 does not feature an official New Game Plus mode.
Starting a new game means leaving behind all your upgrades, perks, gear, items, and levels from your previous playthrough. It’s a clean slate each time.
What’s more, even after completing the main storyline, you won’t be allowed to continue on your existing character. Instead, the game loads you into a state just before the “Point of No Return,” making it impossible to proceed past this critical quest juncture.
While some rewards and bonuses are handed out for different endings, these don’t carry over into a new game. These tokens are a nod to your accomplishments, but they remain locked in your previous game, waiting to be enjoyed once you’re back in Night City’s familiar environs.
Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 Update and Phantom Liberty
The launch of the 2.0 update marked a significant turning point for Cyberpunk 2077. This comprehensive overhaul brought about substantial changes to the game’s mechanics, making it almost unrecognizable compared to its initial release.
Given these sweeping transformations, CD Projekt RED recommended starting a fresh game to get the best experience. Unfortunately, even with all the improvements, a Cyberpunk 2077 New Game Plus mode remained a no-show.
And what about the much-anticipated Phantom Liberty expansion? This content expansion introduced a revamped skill tree, a redesigned police system, and a brand-new area called Dogtown.

It’s no surprise that gamers who had previously reached or nearly completed the main storyline wished for a New Game Plus mode. This would enable them to leverage their hard-earned gear and experience in the face of fresh challenges.
What Does the Future Hold?
So, is a New Game Plus mode completely off the table for Cyberpunk 2077?
As of now, there’s no official information regarding plans for such an update. While the 2.0 update introduced a bevy of changes, New Game Plus wasn’t on the list of additions, nor is it mentioned in future patch notes.
CD Projekt RED stated that 2.0 would be the last substantial update for the game, leaving some players with hope but no concrete information regarding NG+. Still, not all hope is lost.
Cyberpunk 2077 New Game Plus Mod, an Unofficial Alternative
For PC players undeterred by the lack of an official NG+ mode, there is an alternative path.
The PC modding community has stepped in to fill the void. While the official NG+ mode is nonexistent, some modders have crafted their versions to simulate the experience. Most of these mods, however, were created before the 2.0 update, and their compatibility with the current version of the game remains uncertain.
For a more reliable option, PC players can turn to console commands. These commands allow you to set your character’s stats and gear to match your previous game, essentially crafting your custom Cyberpunk 2077 New Game Plus experience.
Some mods allow you to “cheat” by leveling up and dumping items on your lap, practically functioning as an NG+ when paired with an increased difficulty mod.
While it’s not as streamlined or as functional as an official mode, it provides the freedom to tailor your gaming journey according to your preferences.
Console Players are at a Loss, However
In the world of Cyberpunk 2077, New Game Plus remains an elusive dream for console owners. The 2.0 update and Phantom Liberty expansion have revitalized the game, but the absence of an NG+ mode is a poignant reminder of the game’s complex development history.
