It’s happened to all of us at one point or another. You see a movie on Netflix that looks cool and add it to your queue. After 3 months, you finally get around to watching it, only to discover that movie is gone and never coming back. Sound familiar? Trust us; youโre not alone.
See, Netflix has agreements with different studios and production companies to stream their content. Once those agreements are up, thatโs itโ shows over. While this can suck if you miss out on a movie or show, it also means that Netflix is constantly signing agreements and adding new content each month too. That said, some movies and shows never come back and are gone forever.
Unless you know which ones are leaving ahead of time, you might get blindsided again. Thatโs why we decided to showcase the best titles leaving Netflix this month so you no longer miss out on hit TV and movies. This page is constantly updated as we get more information about what’s leaving Netflix, so be sure to check back in regularly. Handpicked Titles to Stream Before They Leave Netflix in May
21 Jump Street (2012) – May 1st
Even if youโve already seen this hilarious buddy-cop action-comedy starring Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum, you need to watch it again before it goes. The film is an adaptation of the 1980s TV series of the same name and is about two officers who go undercover in a high school to try and find the source of a new drug. Hilarity ensues as the two try to adjust to their new high school life without upsetting their overly aggressive captain, played by Ice Cube.
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010) – May 1st
If you like director Edgar Wright (Baby Driver, Hot Fuzz, Ant-Man, and more), youโll love this graphic novel adaptation. Scott Pilgrim, played by Michael Cera, falls in love with Ramona Flowers, played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead. In order to date her, he has to fight each of her ex-boyfriends in epic battles of rock. With the help of his band Sex Bob-Omb, he might just get the girl of his dreams.
The Dark Knight (2008) – May 1st
The second installment in Christopher Nolanโs Batman trilogy, The Dark Knight is widely regarded as the best Batman movie of all time. Christian Baleโs Batman is solid, and he really hits his stride with the character in this one. While people were skeptical of Heath Ledger playing a character as iconic as the Joker, everyone agrees that he absolutely knocked it out of the park. Who knew you could make a pencil disappear like that?
The Gentlemen (2019) – May 1st
Guy Ritchie released this action-comedy back in 2019 with an absolutely star-studded cast. McConaughey, Jeremy Strong, Eddie Marsan, Colin Farrell, and Hugh Grant all have a hand in this film about an American cannabis wholesaler in England (McConaughey) who tries to sell his business. This sets off a chain of events that leads to blackmail, double-crossing, and attempted assassinations. All-in-all, an action-packed crime comedy that is sure to please.
The Sting (1973) – May 1st
70s film and heist lovers would do well to watch this one. Nominated for 10 Oscars and dozens of other awards, The Sting is about two grifters trying to con a mob boss during the Great Depression. Complications arise, tensions grow high, and the heist seems almost impossible to pull off without someone dying. If you like caper films, stream this one before it leaves Netflix in May.
