Itโs an exciting day for Warhammer 40K: Tacticus players. The developers, Snowprint, have just announced some big news during the Skulls event that is going to change the way you play Tacticus in the coming months. There will be some shop changes, a brand-new campaign, new characters, and more to come. Hereโs everything we know so far.ย
The Thousand Sons and a New Campaign
During the live stream, Snowprint showcased a new campaign where the Aeldari face off against The Thousand Sons in a brand new campaign. The campaign should roll out when update 1.8 comes out on June 1st, but it will only be a partial campaign. When it releases, youโll only be able to play the first 3 chapters, which is 45 campaign levels. This means the addition of 3 new bosses, each from The Thousand Sons faction.
Beating each boss will add them to the requisition pool, so be sure to power through those campaigns before opening any requisition scrolls you have. Judging from the new cover art that will replace the Tโau art when you launch the game, we will get an Infernal Master, a ranged Tzaangor character and two other Thousand Sons Spacemarine characters. The final character is speculated as being a named character, possibly Ahriman.
In order to start the campaign, youโll need 3 Aeldari characters. The three currently available in the game are Calandis, Aethana, and Eldryon. If youโre missing Aethena, you can buy their shards in the Guild Shop, but hurry, because she will soon be replaced by Eldryon. If youโre missing Eldryon, you can start farming their shards once they swap out. Eldryon is one of the top-tier Tacticus characters, so definitely buy their shards once they are available. Lastly, Calandis will become available through Arena rewards.ย
The other 2 Aeldari characters, Maugan Ra and Jain Zar, have only been available in Legendary Release Events, but hopefully, with the release of the campaign, they will become available one way or another.ย
The final part of the campaign will release with update 1.9, which should be towards the end of the summer. There is also a mirror and elite campaign in the works for this new faction, so there will be plenty of content to come. With just 3 campaigns and their mirrors in the game, itโs definitely exciting to have a 4th one coming around the corner.
New Free Rewards
The live stream didnโt just have information about the campaign; it also featured three new codes for Tacticus that give Blackstone, coins, salvage, raid tickets, and more, so be sure to redeem those when you get the chance. Youโll also get a requisition scroll, which we highly suggest saving for a 10-pull when you beat the bosses in the new campaign. That will be the quickest way to get your hands on these new characters.ย
What Else to Expect in Tacticus Update 1.8
There hasnโt been much else to go off of from the devs when it comes to 1.8 besides the new information about the campaign, but we can expect to see a few different things. Like most patches, there may be some character rebalancing. Previous patches saw hits to Commissar Yarrick and Haarken Worldclaimer. Players have been recently complaining about Celestine, Calandis, and Reโvas feeling overpowered, so we might see some changes there, but again, nothing official has been announced.
As more information comes out, we will definitely be covering any changes coming to Tacticus, so be sure to follow us, check back, and stay in the loop.
