Since Phineas and Ferb first aired on Disney Channel in 2007, Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz has been wreaking havoc on Danville, doing everything he can to sour the summer vacation of our two beloved protagonists. While no one really knows why Dr. Doofenshmirtz so often feels the need to formulate evil plots to terrorize the tri-state area, he often seems motivated by his tendency to be overly dramatic or his lack of close companions. Luckily, each time that Doofenshmirtz enacts one of his chaotic plans, Perry the Platypus is right there to save the day.
Perhaps Dr. Doofenshmirtz would never have become so evil if someone had given him a shot in the music business. He seems quite fond of singing, as he’s performed musical numbers about his hatred for his brother, impressing his professor, and has even taken a stab at Billie Eilish’s Bad Guy. Admittedly, though, his voice would sound pretty out of place on a Billboard Hot 100 chart. As a result, the doctor has been relegated to his office at Doofenshmirtz Evil Incorporated, where he builds nefarious machines designed for destruction in a not-so-secret lair.
Throughout the four seasons of Phineas and Ferb and the two spin-off movies, Dr. Doofenshmirtz has come up with a whole lot of whacky Inators. Many of these Inators are more-or-less harmless, especially when handled with Dr. Doofenshmirtz’s incredible stupidity; however, some of them have had the potential to do some real damage if it weren’t for the heroic efforts of Perry the Platypus. Here are some of the most memorable Inators ever created by Dr. Doofenshmirtz on one of the most iconic kids shows of the 2000s:
1. Hot-Dog-Vendor-Revenge-Inator
If you couldn’t tell, Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz is almost certainly of German descent, and so it’s only natural that he should prefer a nice bratwurst over our disgusting American hot dogs. Doofenshmirtz creates a machine in the episode titled “Backyard Aquarium” called the Hot-Dog-Vendor-Revenge-Inator that is designed to freeze the water in all the hot dog stands in the tri-state area, encasing every hot dog in ice.
Doofenshmirtz hopes that by doing this, he will force the hot dog vendors to buy his bratwursts instead. However, the machine is destroyed by his own blunder when he misses his target and causes a huge avalanche of bratwursts to fall on top of his latest Inator. This episode features a great dueling scene with Doofenshmirtz wielding a bratwurst and Perry wielding a hot dog.
2. De-Love-Inator
If you didn’t already have some sort of pity for Dr. Doofenshmirtz, you surely will after watching the episode “Chez Platypus” and seeing that he creates a De-Love-Inator because he’s tired of feeling mocked by all of the happy couples walking around Danville. Should he use his latest invention, all love would be eliminated from the tri-state area. Luckily, however, he wants to stay optimistic for his upcoming date and plans to only use the De-Love-Inator if the date goes poorly.
Surprisingly, Doofenshmirtz’s date goes very well, and he willingly gives the remote to the De-Love-Inator satellite to Perry, who promptly destroys the machine. Unfortunately for Doofenshmirtz, the satellite falls out of the atmosphere and zaps his date, dampening the evening and causing his date to storm off. Love eludes Dr. Doofenshmirtz once again.
3. Whale-Translator-Inator
The episode “Perry Lays an Egg” features another tear-jerking love chronicle of Dr. Doofenshmirtz. This time, he meets Perry out in the middle of the ocean, where he is looking for a girl who he used to love. This girl loved whales so much that Dr. Doofenshmirtz invented the Whale-Translator-Inator for her. What he didn’t foresee, however, was that the whale she talked to would tell her to dump Doofenshmirtz and go out with him. And so, Doofenshmirtz’s girlfriend left him for a whale.
Now, full of spite, Doofenshmirtz attempts to use his Whale-Translator-Inator to hurl insults at the whales of the sea. Perry, who doesn’t think that Doofenshmirtz’s plan is a threat to anyone, just flies off and leaves him alone. At the end of the episode, Doofenshmirtz gets his head stuck in the blowhole of a whale, and he sees his ex-girlfriend cooking inside. His girlfriend then tells him that breaking up with him was the best decision she ever made.
4. Ball-Gown-Inator
There are many ways that one could describe Dr. Doofenshmirtz, but “self-assured” is not one of them. He invents the Ball-Gown-Inator in the episode “Gaming the System” to dress everyone in the tri-state area in a ball gown, making him look like the manliest man in comparison. Talk about insecurity. It all starts to make more sense when Doofenshmirtz explains to Perry that back in his homeland of Drusselsteinian, his mother had wished for a daughter instead of a son and had forced him to wear dresses throughout his childhood.
He then zaps Perry with the Ball-Gown-Inator, adorning Perry in a beautiful blue ball gown. Predictably, Doofenshmirtz and Agent P get into a tussle in which Doofenshmirtz accidentally hits himself with the Ball-Gown-Inator, thus dressing himself in a ball gown. While Doofenshmirtz is wallowing in humiliation, Perry grabs the Ball-Gown-Inator and destroys it.
5. Dodo-Bird-Incubator-Inator
After his many failed attempts at terrorizing the tri-state area, Dr. Doofenshmirtz decides in the episode “Last Train to Bustville” that he will enlist the help of a dodo bird. However, seeing as dodo birds are extinct, he invents the Dodo-Bird-Incubator-Inator, which can turn a regular egg into a dodo bird egg. It seems that the only thing Doofenshmirtz knows about dodo birds is that they lived during the time of the dinosaurs, and he assumes that the dodo bird will be big and scary, like a dinosaur when it hatches.
When the dodo bird egg hatches, however, Doofenshmirtz discovers that the dodo bird is not at all scary but actually quite dumb and kind of ugly. After Doofenshmirtz insults the dodo bird within its earshot, the dodo bird attacks him and starts pecking at his face.
6. Bread-Inator
The Bread-Inator is exactly what it sounds like. It turns everything into whole-grain bread. And while this might not sound very dangerous, Doofenshmirtz plans to use it in the episode “Crack That Whip” to turn a statue of President Rutherford B. Hayes into bread. Doofenshmirtz is pissed off because the statue was erected right next to Doofenshmirtz Evil Incorporated, and President Hayes’s beard serves as a constant reminder to Doofenshmirtz of his own inability to grow such luscious facial hair.
Doofenshmirtz plans to turn the statue into a giant loaf of bread and then have a flock of hungry magpies eat it up. The only reason the plan didn’t work out was that the doctor got too tired to carry it out. Once Perry turned off the machine, Doofenshmirtz admitted defeat and went to take a nap.
7. Bring-Out-Dessert-Inator
Jealous of his brother Roger’s dinner parties, Doofenshmirtz devises the Bring-Out Dessert-Inator in the episode “Just Desserts” so that he can fill his brother’s guests with dessert before they get their appetizers or entrees. The machine is designed to simply serve dessert first, and since everyone knows the dinner party is over after dessert, everyone will leave Roger’s parties early.
As Perry tries to foil the plot, he hits Doofenshmirtz with the Bring-Out-Dessert-Inator and forces him to start bringing out dessert. Annoyed that his own invention has been used against him, Doofenshmirtz tries to make Perry eat the dessert. A battle ensues, which involves the two of them force-feeding each other desserts until they both have a sugar rush. Ultimately, Doofenshmirtz accidentally tells Perry the whereabouts of the machine’s self-destruct button, which Perry presses before it’s able to reach Roger’s house.
Please know that we are extremely appreciative of the fact that you took some of your time and effort to explain everything to us. You are referring to a type of blog content that has been of enormous use to me. I could not have done without it.
