It looks like August is going to be jam-packed with goodies this year for Warhammer 40K: Tacticus players. If you’re unaware, Tacticus was released last year on August 15th, which is quickly approaching. The lovely developers, Snowprint, have put together a one-year anniversary event and announced the release of a new, playable Tyranid faction. They haven’t said much, but here’s everything we know so far, as well as everything else announced to come in August.
New Tyranid Faction in Tacticus
Snowprint is one of the few developers that actually regularly ask their players for feedback and what they want to see, which is honestly refreshing in this day and age. And they’re not just tossing your suggestions into the trash either; they actually listen. The new Tyranid faction is perfect proof of just that.
They have asked a few times what new factions players would like to see, and the last time players apparently overwhelmingly asked for a playable Tyranid faction. Tyranids are currently in the game, but only as enemies in Onslaught, a few campaign levels, and Legendary Events. That’s all in the past, though now because on August 20th, you’ll be able to start unlocking Tyranids.
How, you might ask? Well, no one really knows yet. They could add a whole new campaign, but they still have to finish the Saim-Hann campaign, which should be released with the next big patch (hopefully in a few weeks). We can already see the final two characters, one of which is undoubtedly Ahriman, the most powerful sorcerer within The Thousand Sons. The other is a little more difficult to say but appears to be an Exalted Sorcerer. We will all certainly find out exactly who the 4th Thousand Sons character is and how to unlock the Tyranids soon enough.
Here’s a quick tip, save your Requisition Scrolls until you’ve beaten the campaign (and possibly the Tyranid campaign if that’s how they’re released). Until you beat (most) bosses in their campaign chapter, you won’t be able to pull them in a Requisition. So save your pulls, beat the bosses, then pray to the RNG Gods, and if you’re lucky, you might pull Ahriman.
Don’t spend Blackstone on Requisition Scrolls, though, as that is one of the worst things you could spend Blackstone on if you’re trying to play efficiently and not a whale.
Tacticus One-Year Anniversary Event
August 15th marks the one-year anniversary of the global release of Tacticus, and it seems Snowprint has a lot in store for us. In a Discord announcement, the devs stated, “The terrible Tyranid scourge is upon us! Fight the terrifying swarms in the special anniversary event, unlock event missions and rewards, and take part in a special Tyranid Tournament.”
They also announced a new in-game code you can redeem for three common, uncommon, and rare Xenos Badges—TYRANIDS. You can head on over to our codes page to see if there are any other codes you have yet to redeem too. Snowprint will surely release a few more codes during the event to thank the players that support them, so be sure to check back, as we will constantly update that page with any new codes.
Other Tacticus Events in August
August will be jam-packed, so be sure to log in daily to maximize your possible rewards and progress. As usual, every Saturday, you can expect double gold for completing Salvage Runs or campaign battles. Likewise, every Sunday will still be a double-XP day, so get your Arena fights in then. We also have a Tournament Arena starting today, the 3rd, and there is typically another one two weeks after the first one ends, but that would coincide with the one-year anniversary and Tyranid event—so they might hold off on that.
On the 6th, Aun’shi is having his second Legendary Release Event. Players can try and unlock him, but be warned that LREs are extremely difficult. They’re end-game content, and only the most geared players can unlock the character without purchasing one of the two booster packs for the event. Aun’shi is useful in Guild Raids, but there will be a third event, so you might want to hold off on buying packs for now unless you really want him.
Players might be better off looking at Jain Zar’s previous event and gearing up the characters required for it, as her next event is her third and final event. You’ll get another shot at unlocking Aun’sh after this, but once Jain Zar’s LRE rolls around in a few months, she’ll be added to the Requisition Pool and a pain to get—unless Snowprint releases some campaign for the Aeldari, which they might. If they did that, you’d have to grind 500 shards or about 5-6 months of work, so do your best to get her during her final LRE.
There are typically quest events each month, but again, with the Anniversary Event and the Tyranid release, they might hold off on quests. The Shoy’syl Battle Pass ends on the 12th and will quickly be replaced by a new Battle Pass, but that has also not been announced yet.
We will update this page with more information as soon as possible.
