The release of the Inazuma was one of the most exciting times for Genshin Impact as it would be the first time a new region was to be added to the game since its launch in 2020. Inazuma is heavily inspired by Japan, presented with its Eastern-style aesthetics, names, and titles. Its trailer alone took the community by storm as it also gave us our first glimpse of its archon, the Raiden Shogun. After garnering so much hype, it’s no wonder that Raiden Shogun broke records and became Genshin Impact’s top-earning banner on its debut.

The Raiden Shogun was first introduced through the news about the Sakoku Decree, which shut off Inazuma from the outside world as a part of the Vision-Hunt Decree. Unlike the other Archons we’ve befriended so far, the Electro Archon initially saw the Traveler as a threat to her ideals of Eternity and became our adversary in Inazuma’s Archon Quest. There’s more than meets the eye to the Shogun, as behind the stoic personality and frightening prowess lies a ruler who stubbornly wants to protect her people from loss and suffering, even if the method is flawed.

Her Excellency—the Almighty Narukami Ogosho, God of Thunder and Eternity, demands utmost devotion. Prepare to awaken the meditating embodiment of lightning and strike twice with this Raiden Shogun Genshin Impact guide.

Best Artifact Set for Raiden Shogun

Emblem of Severed Fate

The Emblem of Severed Fate  artifact set grants the following effects:

• 2-Piece Set: Energy Recharge +20%
• 4-Piece Set: Increases Elemental Burst DMG by 25% of Energy Recharge. A maximum of 75% bonus DMG can be obtained in this way.

The artifact set that’s obviously made with Raiden Shogun’s kit in mind is the Emblem of Severed Fate since its effects completely revolve around using the Elemental Burst. It significantly increases its damage based on its Energy Recharge, which just lends itself efficiently to her playstyle. With this set equipped, prepare to see one of the most iconic Elemental Burst animations in the game a lot.

Thundering Fury

The Thundering Fury artifact set grants the following effects:

• 2-Piece Set: Electro DMG Bonus +15%
• 4-Piece Set: Increases DMG caused by Overloaded, Electro-Charged, Superconduct, and Hyperbloom by 40%, and the DMG Bonus conferred by Aggravate is increased by 20%. You can also opt for using a 2-piece set of Thundering Fury with another pair from another set that can grant you either additional Elemental Mastery or Energy Recharge.

Artifact Stats to Prioritize

With great energy comes great power. Harness the electrifying power of lightning by focusing on attaining the following stats on her artifacts.

1. Energy Recharge (Sands or substats)
2. CRIT Rate/CRIT DMG (Circlet and substats)
3. ATK%/Electro DMG Bonus (Goblet or substats)
4. Elemental Mastery (substats)

Energy Recharge is single-handedly her most important stat. She’ll need it since she has one of the most expensive Elemental Burst in the game, with an energy cost of 90. Her need to have a lot of Energy Recharge is compensated greatly due to her passive that translates her Energy Recharge to bonus Electro DMG. You more or less want to reach at least 220% Energy Recharge, maxing out at 300%, for that perfect combination with the Emblem of Severed Fate artifact set.

Raiden Shogun’s Burst does, in fact, crit, and thus, it’s preferable to get a good CRIT ratio of 1:2. For her goblet artifact, you can prioritize having an ATK% goblet over Electro DMG Bonus since she already gets plenty from her passive if you have enough Energy Recharge. Best Weapons for Raiden Shogun

Engulfing Lightning is meant to be her signature weapon with the way that its appearance and weapon effect perfectly match her aesthetic and gameplay. This polearm increases her ATK based on her total Energy Recharge, which is only made better due to its secondary stat of Energy Recharge. Engulfing Lightning makes it way easier to build her more offensively.

• Skyward Spine (Energy Recharge) – Increases CRIT Rate by 8% and increases Normal ATK SPD by 12%. Additionally, Normal and Charged Attacks hits on enemies have a 50% chance to trigger a vacuum blade that deals 40% of ATK as DMG in a small AoE. This effect can occur no more than once every 2s.

A great thing about the Standard Banner weapon pool is that it offers us better chances to obtain 5-star weapons anytime. The Skyward Spine has an above-average base ATK stat for a 5-star polearm and a decent Energy Recharge secondary stat. It passively gives its user some CRIT Rate and additional attack speed that she’ll want during her Burst duration. Overall, it’s a good pickup for her to use.

• Primordial Jade-Winged Spear (CRIT Rate) – On hit, increases ATK by 3.2% for 6s. Max 7 stacks. This effect can only occur once every 0.3s. While in possession of the maximum possible stacks, DMG deals are increased by 12%.

Another great weapon from the Standard Banner pool, offering the Raiden Shogun an above-average Base ATK with a decent secondary stat of CRIT Rate. Those struggling to get that perfect CRIT ratio can use this to solve their dilemma and really make the archon’s thunder something worth fearing.

Budget Alternatives

You don’t have to get a 5-star weapon to make Raiden Shogun as powerful as her lore states. There are plenty of budget options to choose from that can work just as well, sometimes even better.

• The Catch (Energy Recharge) – Increases Elemental Burst DMG by 16% and Elemental Burst CRIT Rate by 6%.

From the way it amplifies Elemental Burst DMG to the additional CRIT Rate, The Catch is, by and large, Raiden Shogun’s best free-to-play weapon and the competition’s not even close. So, what’s the catch on using The Catch? You will have to do a lot of fishing, especially if you want it at maxed refinement. That could take you a few days to do unless you’re willing to hop on other players’ worlds to fish.

• Wavebreaker’s Fin (ATK%) – For every point of the entire party’s combined maximum Energy capacity, the Elemental Burst DMG of the character equipping this weapon is increased by 0.12%. A maximum of 40% increased Elemental Burst DMG can be achieved this way.

If you manage to get a decent CRIT ratio and Energy Recharge but lack ATK, Wavebreaker’s Fin is the best choice if you are too lazy to go fishing. This weapon has a high base ATK for a 4-Star polearm, and its effect amplifies Raiden Shogun’s Elemental Burst damage. Do take note that it is dependent on your whole team’s total energy capacity, so it’s best to use it with other characters that also have expensive Burst energy costs.

• Deathmatch (CRIT Rate) – If there are at least 2 opponents nearby, ATK is increased by 16%, and DEF is increased by 16%. If there are fewer than 2 opponents nearby, ATK is increased by 24%.

Unlike the other weapons mentioned before, Deathmatch is locked behind the Battle Pass. For what it’s worth, this weapon is fantastic due to its secondary stat of CRIT Rate as well as its weapon effect being generally good and easy to make use of.

Raiden Shogun’s Talent Priorities

This skill is active for 20 seconds. Additionally, when this Elemental Skill is active, characters gain bonus Burst damage based on the Energy the Raiden Shogun currently has.

3. Origin (Normal Attack) – Raiden Shogun will perform 5 consecutive attacks with her polearm, dealing Physical damage. When held for a Charged Attack, the Raiden Shogun will consume a certain amount of stamina to do a single forward slash, dealing an even more bigger Physical damage.

Raiden Shogun has a visible passive called Chakra Desiderata, which is the circle of light that appears while she’s on your team. This indicator gains Resolve stacks whenever an ally uses their burst or whenever Raiden Shogun collects energy particles and is consumed when she casts her Burst, converting her Resolve stacks to bonus damage for her Burst. It is advised to use her Burst last during team rotations to gain Resolve stacks, and for her to stay on the field during its entire duration, as this will maximize both her personal damage and the energy refund she gives the entire party.

Raiden Shogun Team Comp

As the ruler of Inazuma, the Raiden Shogun will always be accompanied by her loyal attendants in battle. In this list, we present some of the characters that are best suited to join her in team compositions. 

• Kujou Sara (Raiden’s loyal general, dedicated Electro buffer, and Burst Support)
• Yae Miko (Raiden’s familiar, Electro battery and sub-DPS)
• Bennett (All-around Pyro applier, healer, and buffer)
• Xiangling (Pyro burst sub-DPS and applier)
• Xingqiu (4-Star Hydro sub-DPS, perfect for Electro teams)
• Yelan (5-Star Hydro sub-DPS and damage amplifier)
• Alhaitham (Dendro Hypercarry, perfect for an Aggravate team)
• Kaveh (Budget Dendro DPS and perfect for Hyperblooms and Aggravate)

One of the most popular teams in the game is the “Raiden National Team,” which comprises Xingqiu, Bennett, Xiangling, and Raiden herself. These characters have great Elemental Bursts that can deal tons of off-field DPS, all with fairly high burst cost that can easily stack onto the Raiden Shogun’s Burst damage. Raiden’s high Energy Recharge, coupled with her Musou Isshin, ensures that her team rotations are fairly easy to maintain, regardless of how high their Burst’s energy costs are. The road to eternity is long and arduous, but with a proper build, only a few would dare to brave the lightning’s glow.
