A Little Bit Human is operated by New Saga Media LLC, a company registered in New York, USA. This policy explains what information we collect on alittlebithuman.com (including the Arcade at alittlebithuman.com/arcade) and shop.alittlebithuman.com, why we collect it, and the choices you have. The short version: we run a games studio site, a blog, a browser arcade, and a small shop. We collect what we need to make those work. We don’t sell your personal information, and the only advertising-related data collection on the site is described in the Mediavine section below, with opt-outs.

What we collect, at a glance

Nothing personal just for browsing. Reading the blog or playing Arcade games requires no signup and no personal details.
Arcade scorekeeping uses an anonymous account: a random identifier, never your name or email.
Leaderboards store the display name you choose to type, your scores, and gameplay statistics.
Newsletter signup stores your email address, only after you confirm it.
Purchases on our shop collect the usual order details: name, shipping address, email, and payment handled by secure payment processors.
Analytics and advertising use cookies as described below, with consent where the law requires it.

Anonymous accounts and scorekeeping

When you first play a game in the Arcade, we automatically create an anonymous account so we can save your scores, stats, and progress. This account does not contain your name, email, or any personal details; it is a random identifier stored in your browser and linked to your game results on our servers. You can play fully without ever signing up. If you later create an account, your anonymous progress upgrades to it and syncs across devices.

It stores a random identifier, your scores and statistics, and any display name you type for a leaderboard. It lasts until you clear your browser’s site data or ask us to delete it, and you can request deletion at [email protected].

This anonymous account is functional (it is what makes scorekeeping work) and is separate from the optional analytics you can accept or decline in the cookie banner.

Leaderboards and gameplay data

When you submit a score to an Arcade leaderboard, we store the display name you typed, your points, accuracy, streak, per-question results (which country was asked, whether you answered correctly, and how fast), and the time of submission. Display names appear on public leaderboards, so pick a name you’re comfortable showing the world.

To prevent leaderboard spam, our server computes a salted, one-way hash of your IP address and keeps a short-term count of submissions per hash. The raw IP address itself is never stored in our game database.

If you use the “challenge a friend” feature, the name you type is embedded in the link you create and is visible to anyone you share that link with. That’s the point of the feature, but it’s your choice to include a name.

If you sign up for our emails (for example in the Arcade), we ask for your email address and which topics you want. We use a double opt-in: you only join the list after clicking the confirmation link we send you. Alongside your address and preferences, we keep a record of your consent, which includes the IP address, browser information, and time of signup. This is standard proof-of-consent record keeping.

Our email platform is Omnisend, which processes this data on our behalf. Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately. You can also ask us to delete your address entirely at [email protected].

Analytics

Arcade analytics (PostHog). The Arcade uses PostHog to understand how the games are played: page views, gameplay events (like which game mode was played and whether answers were correct), and technical performance measurements (like page load speed, device type, browser, and screen size). We use this to make the games better. We do not use it to identify you personally, we don’t tie it to your anonymous game account, and we don’t use it for advertising.

If you are visiting from the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom (or if we can’t determine your region), analytics stays off until you choose Accept in the cookie banner. Outside those regions, analytics runs by default. Either way, you can change your choice at any time via the “Cookie settings” link in the Arcade footer. Your choice is remembered in your browser. PostHog data is processed on servers in the United States.

To decide whether to show you the consent banner in the first place, our server looks at the country code your internet provider’s address resolves to. That country code is used for the banner decision and is not stored.

Site analytics (Google Analytics). The main site uses Google Analytics to measure traffic: which pages are visited, roughly where visitors come from, and how they found us. Google Analytics uses cookies and processes data on Google’s servers, which may be located in the United States. You can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or by blocking analytics cookies in your browser.

Advertising

Mediavine Programmatic Advertising (Ver 1.1)

The Website works with Mediavine to manage third-party interest-based advertising appearing on the Website. Mediavine serves content and advertisements when you visit the Website, which may use first and third-party cookies. A cookie is a small text file which is sent to your computer or mobile device (referred to in this policy as a “device”) by the web server so that a website can remember some information about your browsing activity on the Website.

First party cookies are created by the website that you are visiting. A third-party cookie is frequently used in behavioral advertising and analytics and is created by a domain other than the website you are visiting. Third-party cookies, tags, pixels, beacons and other similar technologies (collectively, “Tags”) may be placed on the Website to monitor interaction with advertising content and to target and optimize advertising. Each internet browser has functionality so that you can block both first and third-party cookies and clear your browser’s cache. The “help” feature of the menu bar on most browsers will tell you how to stop accepting new cookies, how to receive notification of new cookies, how to disable existing cookies and how to clear your browser’s cache. Without cookies you may not be able to take full advantage of the Website content and features. Please note that rejecting cookies does not mean that you will no longer see ads when you visit our Site. In the event you opt-out, you will still see non-personalized advertisements on the Website.

The Website collects the following data using a cookie when serving personalized ads:

Mediavine Partners (companies listed below with whom Mediavine shares data) may also use this data to link to other end user information the partner has independently collected to deliver targeted advertisements. Mediavine Partners may also separately collect data about end users from other sources, such as advertising IDs or pixels, and link that data to data collected from Mediavine publishers in order to provide interest-based advertising across your online experience, including devices, browsers and apps. This data includes usage data, cookie information, device information, information about interactions between users and advertisements and websites, geolocation data, traffic data, and information about a visitor’s referral source to a particular website. Mediavine Partners may also create unique IDs to create audience segments, which are used to provide targeted advertising.

Shop orders

Purchases on shop.alittlebithuman.com are processed by Shopify. When you place an order, we receive your name, email address, shipping address, and order details so we can fulfill it. Payment is handled by Shopify’s payment processors; we never see or store your full card number. Order details are shared with our fulfillment partner solely to pack and ship your order, and with carriers to deliver it. We keep order records as long as accounting and tax law require.

Shopify processes checkout data under its own terms; see the Shopify privacy policy for details. Purchases made on Amazon are handled entirely by Amazon under its own privacy policy.

Cookies and browser storage we set directly

Beyond the advertising and analytics cookies described above, the site stores a small number of items in your browser to make things work:

Your cookie choice (whether you accepted or declined analytics in the Arcade).
Your anonymous account session for scorekeeping, described above.
Your game progress: daily results, personal bests, your leaderboard name, and a list of your own submitted scores so they can be attached to an account if you create one later.

These are functional, stay in your browser, and are removed when you clear the site’s data.

Comments and embedded content

If you leave a comment on the blog, the comment, your entered name, and your email address are stored with it. Your email is not published.

Blog articles may include embedded content such as YouTube videos or social media posts. Embedded content from other websites behaves exactly as if you had visited the other website directly, which means those sites may collect data about you, set cookies, and track your interaction with the embed. This is governed by those sites’ own privacy policies.

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the service providers that run the site, each acting under their own contractual and legal privacy obligations:

Cloudflare (network security and content delivery) and Vercel (Arcade hosting) process visitor IP addresses transiently as part of serving the site and protecting it from abuse.
Supabase hosts the Arcade’s game database and anonymous accounts.
PostHog processes Arcade analytics, and Google processes site analytics, as described above.
Omnisend processes newsletter signups and sends our emails.
Mediavine and its partners serve advertising as described in the Mediavine section.
Shopify, our payment processors, and our fulfillment partner process shop orders.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights and the safety of our visitors.

Where data is processed

We are a US company and most of our service providers process data in the United States. If you are in the European Economic Area or the UK, this means your data may be transferred outside your region; our providers rely on recognized safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or Data Privacy Framework certification for those transfers.

How long we keep things

Anonymous game accounts and scores: until you clear your browser’s site data (the local identifier) or ask us to delete your server-side results. Leaderboard entries are kept as part of the game’s historical boards unless you request removal.
Newsletter data: until you unsubscribe or request deletion. Consent records are kept as long as the law requires proof of consent.
Order records: as long as accounting and tax law require.
Analytics: retained per PostHog’s and Google’s standard retention windows, and used only in aggregate after that.

Your rights

You can ask us at any time what data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email [email protected] and we’ll take care of it. For leaderboard entries, tell us the display name and roughly when you played so we can find the right rows.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the UK, you additionally have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability, and objection under the GDPR, and the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. Our legal bases are: performance (scorekeeping, orders, emails you asked for), consent (analytics in consent regions, personalized advertising), and legitimate interest (site security, spam prevention, analytics outside consent regions).

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know, delete, and correct personal information, and to opt out of “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. The advertising opt-out links in the Mediavine section above are the mechanism for that, and you can also email us. We do not knowingly sell personal information and we do not discriminate against you for exercising any privacy right.

Children

Our site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Parts of the site cover adult party games intended for players 21 and over. The Arcade does not ask for names, emails, or any personal details to play. If you believe a child has submitted personal information to us, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

Data sent to and from the site is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Access to our databases and provider dashboards is restricted, and our game database is locked so that browsers can never read or write it directly; everything goes through our own servers.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we’ll update the effective date at the top. Material changes (like a new category of data collection) will be noted on this page.
