The beloved Hank Hill, his family, and his odd neighbors are making a comeback on Hulu after the streaming service ordered a revival of this iconic animated series that dominated TV for 13 seasons. The show began in 1997 and ran until its season finale in 2010. While talks of a reboot were constantly popping up in the years after, it seems this time, King of the Hill is finally getting what fans have been dying for since 2010.
But what can we expect from the new King of the Hill? Will it pick up where it left off? Will they jump ahead a decade and turn Bobby into an adult? Who will voice Luanne after her voice actress, unfortunately, passed away shortly after wrapping up the 13th season? Letโs take a look and see what this revival will bring us.
What will the King of the Hill reboot be about?

So far, weโre not too sure. The creators of the show have hinted that they might make the characters older, which would be a turn of events seeing as how theyโve all stayed the same age for the original 13 years of the show. It would definitely be interesting to see Bobby in college dealing with new situations and the helpful advice of his fatherโor even raising kids of his own. Itโs about time we heard Hank say, โThose grandkids arenโt right.โ
That said, will the show be able to maintain the humor fans loved over a decade ago if they decide to age everyone up? A large chunk of the humor was Bobbyโs ignorance and childlike nature when it came to dealing with certain situations. An older Bobby might still be able to pull that off but could come across as more of a dunce than just a naive child.
Regardless, the show will certainly still be set in Arlen, Texas, and revolve around the Hill family, we will certainly see them in the back alley drinking beer, and Hank is going to have to deal with problems untouched by the original series.
Who is cast in the King of the Hill reboot?
We will see the return of a lot of the main cast. Mike Judge, the creator of King of the Hill, is coming back as the voice of Hank and Boomhauer, naturally. His wife, Peggy, the substitute teacher with an abhorrent grasp of Spanish, will be voiced by Kathy Najimy again. Bobby will be continued to be voiced by Pamela Adlon. Hankโs two friends, Bill Dauterive, and Dale Gribble, will be voiced by their original voice actors as well (Stephen Root and Johnny Hardwick, respectively).
As we mentioned earlier, Brittany Murphy, the voice actress for Luanne, Hankโs niece, passed away shortly after the final season wrapped back in 2009. Itโs currently unclear if Luanne will be brought back, but the lack of an announcement seems to suggest that the creators have decided to write her character out of the series. This would make the most sense, as Luanneโs husbandโs voice actor, Tom Petty, has also passed away since the show ended.
Itโs yet to be announced if the Souphanousinphone family will be coming back, but they were such a crucial part of the entire series that fans can only hope that they will. If they do decide to age up the cast, it would be interesting to see if they decide to rekindle the romance between Bobby and Connie or leave them as friends who are both compassionate people that gave love a go and decided that they gave it a good shot.
Where can I watch the King of the Hill reboot?
The King of the Hill reboot will be available on Hulu. If youโre interested in scratching that โI tell you hwhatโ itch, you can stream old episodes of King of the Hill on Hulu right now. Hulu has every King of the Hill episode available for streamingโand that, of course, includes the best King of the Hill episodes that are sure to make you laugh endlessly.
When does the King of the Hill reboot come out?
Thereโs currently no release date for the King of the Hill reboot. Hulu has not yet announced a timeline, but knowing the previous timeline and production of different animated shows, we can expect to see it on our screens sometime in 2024. If they do somehow magically finish it and release it in 2023, we will certainly update this page and keep you in the loop. That said, itโs unlikely to see new episodes of Hank Hill and Crew this year.
