In a Honkai: Star Rail (HSR) first, Trailblazers are reintroduced to a familiar face in a shinier new form and talk about a massive glow-up indeed!
Alluded from his first introduction, Dan Hengโs past finally comes to light as he is revealed to be the reincarnation of Luofuโs previous High Elder, the Imbibitor Lunae. Now following the Path of Destruction, this Imaginary 5-Star appears as Dan Hengโs true Vidyadhara form after having accepted the residual powers of his predecessor. But with great power comes great responsibility as Dan Heng – Imbibitor Lunae now has to shoulder the faults of the past that theyโve left unfinished as well.
Harness the hidden power that could part the greatest of seas with the use of this Honkai: Star Rail guide for Imbibitor Lunae.
Best Relic Set and Ornament for Imbibitor Lunae
The Wastelander of Banditry Desert relic set is the perfect choice to go with someone like Imbibitor Lunae, who deals tons of Imaginary Damage. Its full set bonus makes the wearer stronger against debuffed enemies. You can also pair this relic set with either Musketeer of Wild Wheat or Messenger Traversing Hackerspace to provide him with more ATK% or SPD. Players can obtain the Wastelander of Banditry Desert set from the Cavern of Corrosionโs Path of Conflagration.
Wastelander of Banditry Desert gives the wearer these benefits:
- 2-Piece Bonus: Increases Imaginary DMG by 10%.
- 4-Piece Bonus: When attacking debuffed enemies, the wearer’s CRIT Rate increases by 10%, and their CRIT DMG increases by 20% against Imprisoned enemies.
Planar Ornaments that involve CRIT numbers, like Rutilant Arena and Inert Salsotto, give Imbibitor Lunae the most benefits. Although they may have similar passives and thresholds, we would rank Rutilant Arena above Inert Salsotto because of its DMG increase tied to the wearerโs Basic ATK. You can farm for these ornaments by playing through the Simulated Universe at World 7 for Rutilant Arena or World 6 for Inert Salsotto.
Rutilant Arena gives this bonus effect:
- Increases the wearer’s CRIT Rate by 8%. When the wearer’s current CRIT Rate reaches 70% or higher, the wearer’s Basic ATK and Skill DMG increase by 20%.
On the other hand, Inert Salsotto enhances him with:
- Increases the wearer’s CRIT Rate by 8%. When the wearer’s current CRIT Rate reaches 50% or higher, the wearer’s Ultimate and follow-up attack DMG increases by 15%.
Stats to Prioritize for Imbibitor Lunae
Imbibitor Lunae wants these stats on his artifacts:
- Body: CRIT Rate or CRIT DMG
- Feet: SPD or ATK%
- Planar Sphere: Imaginary DMG or ATK%
- Line: ATK%
With some innate CRIT mechanics in his kit, Imbibitor Lunae is built to deal critical strikes. As such, players will have to abide by the trifecta of CRIT Rate, CRIT DMG, and ATK%. You can fully commit to stacking as much ATK on him as possible or delve into giving him some SPD and Imaginary DMG Bonus to round out his stats.
For substats, he more or less wants the same stats mentioned above whenever he can. We donโt mind the occasional durability stat, but ideally, he wants offensive stats. Break Effect is viable enough as a substat due to his great toughness damage.
Best Light Cone for Imbibitor Lunae
Dan Heng had to go all out to reveal his secret form, so itโs only correct to do the same for Imbibitor Lunae by equipping him with his best-in-slot, โBrighter Than the Sun.โ This newest Destruction light cone brings a lot of CRIT Rate and a heavy boon for characters that enjoy using their Basic ATK, like Imbibitor Lunae. With additional buffs to ATK% and Energy Regeneration Rate, those interested should get it you still can from its respective Brilliant Fixation banner or wait for a future rerun.
This light cone shines โBrighter Than the Sunโ with these abilities:
- Increases the wearer’s CRIT Rate by 18%. When the wearer uses their Basic ATK, they will gain 1 stack of Dragon’s Call, lasting for 2 turns. Each Stack of Dragon’s Call increases the wearer’s ATK by 18% and Energy Regeneration Rate by 6.0%. Dragon’s Call may be stacked up to 2 times.
At a close second is โOn the Fall of an Aeonโ, which still has a generally good effect. Imbibitor Lunaeโs increased toughness damage, coupled with the Imaginary element being one of the most common enemy weaknesses, makes it easier for him to inflict Weakness Breaks on enemies and use the added DMG increase. You can buy this light cone and its superimposition levels from Hertaโs Store in exchange for Herta Bonds.
โOn the Fall of an Aeonโ grants the following effects:
- Whenever the wearer attacks, their ATK is increased by 8% in this battle, up to 4 times. When the wearer inflicts Weakness Break on enemies, the wearer’s DMG increases by 12% for 2 turns.
Budget Alternative
Not everyone will have enough luck or Stellar Jades to pull a 5-Star light cone. If you donโt have a copy of those recommended so far, consider โUnder the Blue Skyโ and โNowhere to Runโ as your best substitutes. Although they are slightly less powerful, they are considerably more budget-friendly and come with effective abilities that can synergize with Imbibitor Lunae.
Like most Destruction light cones, โUnder the Blue Skyโ and โNowhere to Runโ grant a decent amount of ATK buff right off the bat. โUnder the Blue Skyโ focuses on making critical strikes more consistent with each felled enemy, while โNowhere to Runโ gives its wearer a good amount of survivability due to its health-restoring effect. The two light cones are pretty much on par with one another and would only edge out the other either due to teambuilding or combat circumstances.
Players can obtain โUnder the Blue Skyโ in any Warp banner as a 4-Star drop, while โNowhere to Runโ is only available through Nameless Honor, HSRโs battle pass system.
โUnder the Blue Skyโ gives its user this ability:
- Increases the wearer’s ATK by 16%. When the wearer defeats an enemy, the wearer’s CRIT Rate increases by 12% for 3 turns.
And for when youโve truly run out of options, then there’s โNowhere to Runโ:
- Increases the wearer’s ATK by 24%. Whenever the wearer defeats an enemy, they restore HP equal to 12% of their ATK.
Imbibitor Lunae Skill Priorities
Hereโs an explanation of Imbibitor Lunaeโs skills:
- Beneficent Lotus (Basic ATK) – Imbibitor Lunaeโs Basic ATK has four different forms depending on how many Skill enhancements are used before the attack. From the fourth hit onward, it gains Blast AoE damage.
- Beneficent Lotus – A 2-hit single target attack that deals 50 to 110% of his ATK as Imaginary DMG.
- Transcendence – A 3-hit single target attack that deals 130 to 286% of his ATK as Imaginary DMG.
- Divine Spear – A 5-hit attack that deals Imaginary DMG equal to 190 to 418% of his ATK to a single target and 30 to 66% to adjacent targets.
- Fulgurant Leap – A 7-hit attack that deals Imaginary DMG equal to 250 to 550% of his ATK to a single target and 90 to 198% to adjacent targets.
- Dracore Libre (Skill) – His skill revolves around enhancing his Basic ATK. Enhancements do not consume Skill Points and may be applied up to 3 times consecutively. It is also not considered as using a Skill. When using Divine Spear or Fulgurant Leap, starting from the fourth hit, 1 stack of Outroar’ is gained before every hit. Each stack of “Outroar” increases his CRIT DMG by 6 to 13.2% for a max of 4 stacks, and lasts until the end of his turn.
- Enhanced once, Beneficent Lotus becomes Transcendence.
- Enhanced twice, Beneficent Lotus becomes Divine Spear.
- Enhanced 3 times, Beneficent Lotus becomes Fulgurant Leap.
- Azure’s Aqua Ablutes All (Ultimate) – Imbibitor Lunaeโs Ultimate is a 3-hit attack that deals Imaginary DMG equal to 180 to 324% of his ATK to a single enemy target and 84 to 151% to adjacent targets simultaneously. He then obtains 2 Squama Sacrosanta which can be consumed for his skill instead of using Skill Points. A total of 3 Squama Sacrosanta can be held at any time.
- Righteous Heart (Talent) – After each attack hit dealt, Imbibitor Lunae gains 1 stack of Righteous Heart. This increases his DMG by 5 to 11%, and can stack up to 6 times. Righteous Heart stacks expire at the end of his turn.
- Heaven-Quelling Prismadrakon (Technique) – Imbibitor Lunae enters the Leaping Dragon state for 20 seconds. His attack enables him to move forward rapidly for a set distance, attacking all enemies he touches and blocking all incoming attacks. Entering combat via attacking enemies in the Leaping Dragon state, he deals Imaginary DMG equal to 120% of his ATK to all enemies and gains 1 Squama Sacrosancta.
Hereโs how we would prioritize his skills:
- Basic ATK (Beneficent Lotus)
- Skill (Dracore Libre)
- Talent (Righteous Heart)
- Ultimate (Azure’s Aqua Ablutes All)
Itโs a no-brainer that you should definitely max out his Basic ATK first, as all of his kit involves either enhancing its damage or improving its ease of use. Youโll always want him to use his fully enhanced Basic ATK during his turn. Youโll also be using his Skill a ton, so make sure to level that as well for the additional CRIT DMG bonus from Outroar. Afterward, players are free to level his Ultimate and Talent as they please, but we prefer leveling Talent due to its ability to stack nature as opposed to the minimal damage increase from his Ultimate.
Leveling these skills will use the following resources:
Immortal Scionette (Tier 1) | Shattered Blade (Tier 1) | Lots of Credits |
Immortal Aeroblossom (Tier 2) | Lifeless Blade (Tier 2) | Regret of Infinite Ochema |
Immortal Lumintwig (Tier 3) | Worldbreaker Blade (Tier 3) | Tracks of Destiny |
While itโs possible to farm Immortal Lumintwig in the overworld, Path-specific materials like the Worldbreaker Blade and Echo of War drops like Regret of Infinite Ochema are only obtainable with the use of Trailblaze Power. This limited resource takes time to regenerate, so knowing which materials you need is crucial for effecting character raising.
Best Imbibitor Lunae Team Compositions
Imbibitor Lunaeโs is considered a DPS character, much like his 4-Star counterpart. However, he is limited to being the primary DPS of his team compared to Dan Heng, who could be played as a sub-DPS. His skill point-heavy playstyle makes it difficult for him to slot as anything but. That being said, his ability to output enormous damage per skill point carries so much that itโs better to just surround him with supports that can enable him instead of using another DPS.
Hereโs the short list of playable characters that made the cut for Viyadharaโs team:
- Yukong (Imaginary buffer that can provide ATK and CRIT buffs)
- Luocha (Skill point efficient healer)
- Welt (Imaginary debuff support that can provide speed control)
- Bronya (Can enable multiple attacks in a turn and grant big ATK buffs)
- Silver Wolf (Can impair Imaginary weakness on enemies)
- Pela (Skill point positive debuff support and crowd control)
- Tingyun (Grants quicker access to his Ultimate)
- Gepard (Skill point efficient shielder and tank)
The idea behind his best teams is to use supports from the Path of Harmony (buffs) and Nihility (debuffs) that can function with little skill point investment to ensure that Imbibitor Lunae is able to reach his maximum damage capacity. While the damage ceiling is high, so too is the mastery required to run this team smoothly. If you find yourself struggling to manage your Skill Points, you can change up his playstyle slightly to alternate between big bursts of damage and regular Basic ATKs. The only real downside to him being on the team is that you can never use him to farm Calyxes on auto.
