How to Get Dye in Manor Lords

To get Dye in Manor Lords, you need to gather Berries and process them at a Dyer’s Workshop. Dye is a necessary ingredient for making Clothing, which fulfills Tier 2 citizen needs.

Step-by-Step: How to Get Dye

  1. Gather Berries
    • Build a Forager’s Hut near forested areas with wild berry bushes.
    • Assign a family to gather Berries throughout spring, summer, and early fall.
    • You can also import Berries via the Trading Post if you have a trade route and Regional Wealth.
  2. Build a Dyer’s Workshop
    • After acquiring berries, construct a Dyer’s Workshop.
    • Assign a family to work the building.
    • The workshop automatically converts 1x Berry into 1x Dye.
  3. Store or Use the Dye
    • Dye is automatically stored in your Storehouse.
    • It is primarily used by the Tailor’s Workshop (on a Level 2 burgage plot) to create Clothing.

Alternative Methods

  • Trade for Dye: You can import Dye directly via the Trading Post, though it’s more efficient long-term to produce it yourself.
  • Early Access Tip: As of the latest build, berries are the only raw resource used to make dye. There are no other dye plants (like woad or madder) in the game yet.

Important Tips

  • Berries are seasonal: Foragers can only collect them in warmer months. Stockpile ahead of winter.
  • Dye is not edible: Avoid overharvesting berries if you rely on them for food early-game.
  • Prioritize dye production if you plan to meet Tier 2 Clothing needs before winter.

Strategy Tip

Want faster Dye production?

  • Place the Forager’s Hut, Storehouse, and Dyer’s Workshop close together to reduce travel time.
  • Upgrade roads to improve supply chain speed between buildings.
