Voice lines are one of the many ways a game could flesh out a character’s personality. In gacha games like Honkai: Star Rail (HSR), which features a diverse ensemble of characters, voice lines play a very crucial role by breathing a character’s personality to life and endearing its characters to the players. Maybe a character’s voice really stood out to you upon first impressions. Maybe you found them comfortingly familiar from HoYoVerse’s previous title, Genshin Impact. Or maybe their voice and their lines just grew on you the more you played through the game.
Regardless of the reason, a good voice-over can be the deciding factor as to whether or not a character becomes a favorite of yours and in turn, encourage you to spend your precious Stellar Jades for whenever they finally turn up in featured banners.
Here’s how you can listen back to your favorite Honkai: Star Rail characters’ voice lines.
Where can you find the character voice lines in Honkai: Star Rail?

There are two ways to view the voice lines in Honkai: Star Rail.
The easiest way to do so would be through the main menu which you can access by clicking on the phone icon on the top left of the screen or by hitting the Esc button. It’s there that you will find the Data Bank. The Characters section of the Data Bank will show you the profiles of all 22 playable characters so far where you’ll be able to see their information, story, traces, eidolons, and voice lines. Take note that you can only view the profile of characters that you’ve collected so far.

Aside from the main menu, you can also access the Data Bank by visiting Dan Heng’s room on the Astral Express which serves as HSR’s in-game archive location. The Data Bank will be on the little tablet that’s right beside Dan Heng’s bed.
Getting to Know Honkai: Star Rail’s Characters

Clicking on a character’s profile within the Data Bank lets you see a variety of voice lines for each character. Under the Voices tab, the voice lines themselves are neatly categorized under various topics which gives players insight into a character’s personality, background, and relationships. Their voice actors are also credited here.
There are standard introductory lines like the First Meeting, Greeting, and Parting lines. The About Self and Chat dialogues touch upon their all-important backstories and current motivations. There are also plenty of fun facts to learn about these characters through lines such as their Hobbies, Annoyances, Knowledge, or just Something to Share.
Each character has voice lines about their thoughts and feelings towards other characters as well. The number of lines will vary from one character to the next. Still, these voice lines are often about those who are in the same faction as them such as March 7th’s thoughts about the Astral Express crew, Bronya with those in Belobog, or Jing Yuan with the members of the Xianzhou: The Luofu. It is expected that more voice lines will be added to this list as you progress through the story and meet new characters in the future so be sure to check them out occasionally.
Can you find all of Honkai: Star Rail’s voice lines within the Data Bank?

No, you can’t listen to all the voice lines in Honkai: Star Rail through the Data Bank as there are voice lines in the game that are not recorded in it.

By the way!
Did you know we’re launching a Kickstarter campaign? In the next few months, our campaign for ‘Gentle Jack: The Party Game for Bad Friends‘ goes live! Visit the official website or follow the Kickstarter page to stay in the loop.
Open World voice lines for character idles, solving puzzles, opening chests, and town teleports are noticeably excluded from the list. The same goes for any of the characters’ combat voiceovers which you can only trigger by being in actual combat.
Caelus or Stelle enthusiasts will also be disappointed to see that the Trailblazer does not have an entry in the character archives which means that their profile and voice lines are currently unavailable.
Can you listen to dialogues from previous Quests in Honkai: Star Rail?

Honkai: Star Rail has four types of missions available but only two of these are voice acted. These are namely the Trailblaze Missions and the Companion Missions. Trailblaze Missions are the quests that follow HSR’s main storyline. On the other hand, Companion Missions are side quests related to specific characters that you meet in the game.
As of Version 1.0, there is no way to listen to voice lines from previously completed Trailblaze Missions and Companion Missions from the Data Bank itself.
It’s not unlikely that there will be a future update to the Data Bank that will add a separate section for the game’s story and allow players to listen to old mission dialogues just like Genshin. Until that same feature is implemented into Honkai: Star Rail, players will have to seek out other videos online if they wish to re-listen to any dialogue that was said during any of those quests.
Can you change the Language Voice Over in Honkai: Star Rail?

For those who want to hear their main’s voice lines in another language, Honkai Star Rail allows players to choose what language pack to use. Players can change the voice and language settings at any time by going through the game settings under the language settings tab. Clicking on the voice option here allows you to download the corresponding language pack of your choice or delete voice packs that you are not using to save some space.
Honkai: Star Rail supports over 13 Text Languages but features only four Voice-Over Languages, which are Chinese, English, Japanese, and Korean.
All of these choices feature great vocal performances from various voice actors. Fans of Cyno from Genshin Impact will recognize Alejandro Saab’s work on Jing Yuan for the English dub. Meanwhile, those listening to the Japanese dub would be delighted to hear the General of the Luofu voiced by Daisuke Ono of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure and Black Butler fame. Those familiar with Honkai Impact 3rd will see the return of Hanser in the Chinese dub for the new character Silver Wolf in the upcoming Honkai: Star Rail version 1.1.
The journey remains enjoyable regardless of what language you use. So take your pick as to which one you like the best or switch language packs every now and then if you’re looking for a change of pace. Just be warned that these voice packs take up a lot of memory so you might want to stick to just one pack if you’re on mobile.
