How Old Are All the Genshin Impact Characters

Genshin Impact characters are not only different flavors of gameplay mechanics; to people who have worked hard on building them up (or spent too much on Primogems), they might as well be real people with their own special personalities and unique traits, such as their age.

Now, like any intellectual property based on anime, it’s really hard to tell a character’s age just based on their appearance. It turns out children aren’t children at all, and some adults are younger than they should be, appearance-wise. 

So if you want a better impression of all Genshin Impact characters and to clear up certain assumptions, here’s how old they all are. 

Since the game doesn’t outright state the ages of most Genshin Impact characters, some of these are just speculations or estimates.

Mondstadt characters

Most Mondstadt peeps in Genshin Impact are “normal,” with a few exceptions like Albedo and Venti, who are actually a lot older than they appear. Their wisdom and behavior back that up (Venti, not so much, though), and they’re functionally immortal and also don’t age.

It’s also not clear whether the immortal characters in Mondstadt can change their own appearance or choose their physical appearance’s age at will (Venti can since he’s just a spirit), but they do seem to prefer teenage appearances.

As far as non-immortal characters go in Mondstadt, Lisa is the oldest one, which sounds about right, given her frame and her penchant for acting more mature and like a mentor.

Meanwhile, characters like Klee, who also aren’t humans, are hard to gauge by age since she’s supposedly an elf, and her kind ages differently.

Liyue characters

In contrast to Mondstadt’s Genshin Impact characters, the ones from Liyue are no strangers to immortality. Some of them are literally thousands of years old, like Zhongli and the Adeptus.

Liyue is also an old nation– one of the oldest in Teyvat, dating back from the days when Archons roamed the world, and the mortals were like mere ants. 

As usual, Zhongli is the oldest one, and beneath that mortal form is a mountain of knowledge and rickety joints (just kidding, they’re rock-hard). Those who are close to Zhongli’s circle tend to also be closer in age to him (save for Tartaglia).

Speaking of Tartaglia, he’s technically from Snezhnaya’s roster, but that nation’s not out yet, so here he is.

Then there are anomalies like Qiqi, who were resurrected after her death back when she was a child, so it technically makes her at least a hundred years of age. 

Meanwhile, you can expect the business people and power players of Liyue, such as Ningguang, Baizhu, and Yelan, to be well past their awkward quarter-life crisis stages, meaning they’re at least nearly 30 or past that, even. 

Inazuma characters

As a nation, Inazuma is quite young, and it’s certainly younger than Liyue, so don’t expect it to have as many immortals. While there are plenty of non-humans in Inazuma, like Itto or Gorou, they seem to age the same as humans or are simply at the youngest stages of their lives.

Raiden Shogun herself is relatively young as far as Archons go and has only lived for around five centuries, along with her foxy pet bff Yae Miko. 

But overall, the playable population of Inazuma in Genshin Impact is young and brimming with energy. Most of them are warriors by profession or are budding heirs.

The characters are also notably not as diverse in their age compared to Mondstadt or Liyue though that could be attributed to their smaller roster.

Expect more characters to appear here. 

Sumeru characters

Sumeru characters are well-varied as far as ages go, but the mortals are typically still enrolled in an academy or are still studying, which puts their age at around their 20s. 

Mortal outliers such as Alhaitham are likely a bit older, given how he’s the acting Grand Sage, and most candidates for this position typically must have a combination of wisdom and experience that comes with age.

Speaking of outliers, there’s also Nahida, who is hundreds of years old despite her appearance since she’s an Archon, and also the Wanderer, who’s a clone of the original Raiden Shogun, making him roughly the same age as the current Raiden Shogun (Ei) in Inazuma. 

There’s a weird case to be made for someone like Dori because while her character looks like a child, has a child’s voice, and child’s model, her personality and penchant for unethical business make her seem more mature than she lets on. For all we know, she could just be a small adult or at least a middle-aged woman who drank something to revert her age and appearance.
