If you have been playing Honkai: Star Rail, you must have come across the Follow-Up Attack mechanics by now. This turn-based game by HoYoverse has introduced many new mechanics which work wonders when utilized timely!
But what exactly are the Follow-Up Attack system and bonuses, and how do the triggered effects work? More importantly, which characters can use this effect to add some extra buffs to their damage potential?
We will be answering these questions today!
What is Follow Up Attack?
In Honkai: Star Rail, Follow-Up Attacks don’t follow any turn order per se and trigger automatically if the character has successfully met the required conditions using their skills.
It is an additional attack that is only possible by certain Honkai: Star Rail characters, and can be specified as counterattacks that include-
- Extra damage for breaking the shield and initiating Break Effect
- One-hitting low-health opponents
- Damage over time (DoT)
Each character with this potential comes with conditions that initiate their Follow Up Attack. And since these attacks do not need an extra turn for execution, they can happen during any time of the battle as long as your character is not stunned or dead.
How are Follow Up Attacks Triggered?
The additional Follow Up Attack is triggered when a character, who can perform such an attack, fulfills the requirement to do so.
Let’s say you have Herta on your team, and your enemy’s HP falls below or equal to 50%. This condition alone can trigger Herta’s Follow Up Attack. Since they are passives, you cannot actively make them happen unless your characters with Follow Up ability or an alley do something to activate it.
Keeping this in mind, you can curate a team composition that aids in setting off Follow Up Attacks based on favorable circumstances and conditions. Many such characters in Honkai: Star Rail is capable of triggering Follow Up attacks, so if your team compositions include them, you are in for a powerful treat!
