You’ll quickly come across the Wind element in Honkai: Star Rail (HSR) after just a few minutes of playing when you’re introduced to the character Dan Heng. Wind is one of the seven elements within HSR, but only has a few characters that use it, with one more currently on the way. If you’re looking to master this element and the characters that utilize it, this guide has just about everything you need to know about Wind in HSR.
What Is the Wind Element and Wind Damage in Honkai: Star Rail?
The Wind element in HSR is used to proc Weakness Break against certain enemies. Once you’ve broken an enemy’s Toughness, you’ll trigger Weakness Break and apply the Wind Shear debuff, which deals damage over time to the enemy.
The Weakness Break itself deals 1.5 x Base Break DMG x Max Toughness Multiplier. It has a 150% base chance to apply 1 stack against normal enemies, or 3 stacks against Elites and Bosses, up to 5 stacks in total. Wind Shear will deal Wind damage over time equal to 1 x Number of Stacks x Base Break DMG at the beginning of each turn, for 2 turns.
Wind Element Relic Sets
There’s currently only one Relic set in-game that buffs Wind-related attacks. This set will increase your overall Wind DMG, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the best Relic set for your character. If you’re interested in finding the best Relic sets for each character, you’ll have to head over to our individual guides, where we cover the best Relic sets, Light Cones, and more.
Eagle of Twilight Line
The Eagle of Twilight Line is the only Relic set that directly buffs Wind DMG. It can be found in The Cavern of Corrosion from 2-5 stars, Treasures and the Echo of War from 3-5 stars, and by synthesizing relics at 5 stars.
- 2-Piece Set Bonus: Increases Wind DMG by 10%
- 4-Piece Set Bonus: After the wearer uses their Ultimate, their next action is moved forward by 25%
The Eagle of Twilight Line Relic set is made up of the following individual Relic pieces:
- Eagle’s Beaked Helmet
- Eagle’s Soaring Ring
- Eagle’s Winged Suit Harness
- Eagle’s Quilted Puttees
Wind Element Characters in Honkai: Star Rail
There are only 3 Wind element characters in Honkai: Star Rail at the time of writing this, but one more is expected to be released shortly, bringing the total to 4. You start the game with one, Dan Heng, so you should be familiar with them already. The others on this list can be unlocked as you play HSR.
1. Dan Heng (4-star)
Dan Heng is a DPS character that focuses on massive single-target damage. His skill deals Wind DMG equal to 130-325% of his ATK, with a chance to reduce the target’s SPD by 12% for 2 turns on crit. Heng’s Ultimate deals massive damage, 240-480% of his ATK. If the enemy is slowed, the DMG increases by 72-144%. Meanwhile, his Talent increases his next attacks RES PEN by 18-45%. If you use his Technique to start a battle, his ATK will be increased by 40% for the next 3 turns.
2. Sampo (4-star)
Sampo is more of another wind DPS character. His Skill deals 28-70% of his ATK to a single enemy but also hits random enemies another 4 times for the same amount. Sampo’s Ultimate synergizes with his Talent, as it deals 96-192% of his ATK to all enemies and has a 100% base chance to increase the DoT they take by 20-35% for 2 turns.
This is where his Talent comes in. Sampo’s attacks have a 65% base chance to inflict Wind Shear for 3 turns. Paired with his Ultimate, Sampo’s Talent can quickly dish out a lot of damage at the start of each turn. Lastly, his technique blinds enemies in a set area and delays all enemies’ actions by 25% at the start of a battle.
3. Bronya (5-star)
Bronya is the only support-style character that also deals Wind DMG in the game currently. Her Skill removes a debuff from one ally and allows them to immediately take a turn, increasing their damage by 33-82.5%. She can even use this on herself and take another turn too. Her Ultimate increases her allies’ ATK by 33-66% and increases their Crit DMG by 12-18% of Bronya’s Crit DMG—plus an additional 12-24% for 2 turns.
Bronya’s Talent allows her to take more turns, as after she uses a Basic ATK, her next action is moved forward by 15-37.5%. Using her technique to start a battle buffs her allies’ ATK by 15% for 2 turns.
4. Blade (5-star)
Blade is an unreleased Wind element character, but we do know little about their skills and abilities. We will update this as more information comes out, but Blade will be another DPS character whose kit is directly related to his max HP.
Blade’s Skill consumes a portion of their max HP to immediately advance their next action forward. Their DMG also increases, and their basic attack is transformed into another form. Their Ultimate seems to deal AoE damage and sets Blade’s HP to 50%, possibly healing him depending on his current state in battle.
His Talent powers him up as he takes damage, building stacks each time he is attacked. At 5 stacks, he consumes them and unleashes a follow-up attack against all enemies, restoring HP afterward. Using his Technique to start a battle will consume 20% of his Max HP but deal 40% of it to all enemies as Wind DMG.
