What are Honkai: Star Rail Relic Sets?
Before we get into how these relic sets work, let us first understand HSR relic sets. These are key components in buffing up your characters with powerful bonuses.
Each set comes with six relic parts which you can mix and match with parts from other sets to suit a character’s best builds. This means that to make strong teams, you’ll need to farm different relic sets to customize your relic builds for all characters.
Moreover, there’s a catch in this mix and matches! Among six relic pieces, if more than one comes from one particular set, you get some extra buffs. These are additional bonuses granted for choosing multiple pieces from a set.
How to Do Honkai: Star Rail Relics Function?

Sub Stats in HSR Relics
While the stats mentioned above are the main possible stats, there is also a list of sub-stats that gets added to the pieces as you level them up.
The equipment slots determine if a piece has only one main stat or receives multiple stats. But that is not the case for sub-stats. Sub-stats are shared among all the pieces and are determined by randomly generated numbers (RNG.)
When you level up relic pieces, the pieces receive a certain substat or buff at variable intervals. These increases can be flat rates, or percentages, depending on HSR‘s RNG system.
