The Shadows of Preservation and the Shadows of Destruction are what we call Constellations in Genshin Impact. Individually they are called Eidolons.
These are means of obtaining the Trailblazers’ character copies, strengthening their abilities, and making them more powerful for future bosses.
While rolling on banners will help you warp other HSR characters’ Eidolons, for the main characters, you need to progress on the main story quest to achieve the same!
And the best part? It is super fun and adventurous as you get to go on various journeys, learn new things, and fortify your Trailblazer for more challenges along the way!
How does the Trailblazer get Preservation and Quantum Element?
Paths and Elements are the main components of all HSR characters.
7 Paths determine a character’s job and class, giving them a crucial role in a team. For example, the Preservation Path is for characters with defensive and shielding abilities.
Elements also have 7 types. They are assigned to each character, giving them unique abilities against an enemy’s elemental weakness.
The Quantum Element Trailblazer Follows the Path of Preservation. Here the Quantum element initiates the Entanglement effect after a weakness break trigger.
This leads to Quantum damage over time (DoT) and delays in the enemy’s turn.
Now the Trailblazer obtains the Preservation Path and Quantum Element through the story quests, solving puzzles, and activating their Quantum Eidolon, i.e., the Shadows of Preservation.
What is the Shadow of Preservation?
For a Quantum Trailblazer, the Shadow of Preservation is the character’s Eidolon for the Path of Preservation.
There are 6 Trailblazer-exclusive Shadows of Preservation that help in raising Eidolon Resonance.
Each of these 6 offers amazing buffs to the Trailblazer’s abilities and stats-
- E1 (Earth-Shaking Resonance): Trailblazer’s Basic ATK deals additional Fire DMG = 25% of their DEF. And for enhanced Basic ATK, the additional Fire DMG is 50% of Trailblazer’s DEF.
- E2 (Time-Defying Tenacity): The Trailblazer’s Shield Talent over all allies blocks additional DMG = 27 + 2% of the Trailblazer’s DEF
- E3 (Trail-Blazing Blueprint): +2 Skill Level till Level 15 max, and +2 Talent Level till Level 15 max
- E4 (Nation-Building Oath): At the beginning of any battle, the Trailblazer gains 4 Magma Will stacks.
- E5 (Spirit-Warming Flame): +2 Ultimate Level till Level 15 max, and +2 Basic ATK till Level 15 max.
- E6 (City-Forging Bulwarks): The Trailblazer receives a 10% increase in DEF after using their Basic ATK or the Ultimate. And this stacks up to 3 times!
How to Get the Eidolons
Since Trailblazers’ character Eidolons are not available through banners, other more adventurous methods are available for all players.

- Puzzles and other hidden quests

Locations for the 6 Shadows of Preservation
Here are 6 locations and situations which help you unlock and receive your Quantum Trailblazer’s Shadows of Preservation.
1st Shadow of Preservation
After you reach level 34, you receive the first Shadow of Preservation after completing the Humming Antlers, Entwined Horns Trailblaze mission.
2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th Shadows of Preservation
For the next 4 Shadows of Preservation, you need to go to The Xianzhou Luofu. This is the new world you enter during the main quest.
Here, visit the Jeweler’s Pagoda and buy 4 Shadows of Preservation. Each is 250 Strale.
6th Shadow of Preservation
The 6th Shadow of Preservation is not available yet, as it is locked behind an unreleased quest.
