How it all began...
It was never supposed to be a real game. Just a stack of handwritten dares, a coin for keeping track of things, and absurd rules and pitfalls that kept you on your toes. But it kept getting requested. Then it kept getting meaner. Then it started getting illustrated.
A decade later, it's 166 cards of distilled chaos, every single one illustrated and designed to test exactly how much your friends actually like you.
We're sorry in advance.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Gentle Jack
A gothic-comedy party card game where you steal, sabotage, and curse your friends to be the last one standing with the most Gadgets in hand.
You can play strategically or you can embrace the chaos. It all depends on who’s playing.
How do you play?
Each player starts with 3 Gadgets. On your turn, draw a Gadget, then play one from your hand. Gadgets are your hitpoints and your weapons, use them to mess with other players, protect yourself, or build up your hand.
If a card triggers an Omen, you draw from the Omen deck and resolve it immediately. When either deck runs out, the game ends. Most Gadgets in hand wins.
What types of cards are there?
There are two decks: Gadgets and Omens. Within those, you’ll find stand Omens and Gadgets that have instant impact but also: Boons (defensive cards you can play even when it’s not your turn), Charms (lingering effects that stick to a player until removed), and cards (secret effects only you can see). Each card type changes how the game plays out.
Do I have to drink alcohol to play?
Not really. Even though Gentle Jack was made as a drinking game in its purest form, the core game works without any drinking at all. Simply swap out sips for a different punishment like pushups, poker chips or hugs (if you’re a cutie pie).
If you’re intent on drinking, there’s an optional “Gentle Jack!” mechanic that enhances the drinking element if your group wants more opportunities to quench their thirsts, but you can skip it entirely and the game plays just as well.
How many people can play?
3-10 players. Smaller groups are more tactical while bigger groups get more chaotic. Both very fun.
How many cards are in the box?
The Pioneer Edition of Gentle Jack contains 68 Omen cards and 95 Gadget cards. The game is designed to be modular and we are already working hard on themed card packs to add to and customize your Gentle Jack experience.
Is this game appropriate for kids?
No. Gentle Jack is for adults (18+ or 21+ depending on your area). The content includes crude humor and situations that are firmly not family-friendly.
Where does it ship from?
Our warehouse is in New Jersey, USA. US orders typically arrive within 5–7 business days. International shipping is available with rates calculated at checkout.
What's your return policy?
Unopened, sealed games can be returned within 30 days from the time of purchase. Damaged or defective orders get a free replacement, just send us a photo. Opened games can’t be returned. Full details can be found in our Return Policy
Is this the same game from Kickstarter?
Same game, same quality, now available to everyone. Backed by 112 supporters who helped bring it to life.
Why is this called the "Pioneer Edition"?
We’re a small studio, and we wanted to do something special for the people who believed in us early: our Kickstarter backers and everyone who buys the game before we hit retail shelves.
The Pioneer Edition is a limited run that includes 3 unique Gadget cards, 2 unique Omen cards, a metal coin turn tracker, and the Pioneer Edition game box. Once they’re gone, they’re gone.
Will there be expansions?
Yes! Themed card packs and an expanded edition are in the works. Sign up for our email list to hear about them first.
