In this article:
- ENTP anime characters aren’t as recognizable as their INXX counterparts in fiction as they’re not as typecast into villain/hero roles compared to them.
- The ENTP’s dynamic and responsive cognitive stack makes them one of the more flexible yet intellectually rigorous types.
- The ENTP’s cognitive functions begin with dominant Extraverted Intuition (NE) followed by Introverted Thinking (TI), Extraverted Feeling (FE), and Introverted Sensing (SI).
ENTP anime characters are surprisingly easy to miss because of their playful attitudes and penchant for humor which make it difficult to pin them down as ENTP. Well, if you aren’t familiar with your cognitive functions, that is. While ENTPs can be some of the most fun-loving and easy-going types, their tertiary Extraverted Feeling (FE) can make them both effortlessly charming and surprisingly belligerent.

Compared to their more reserved INTP cousins, the ENTP has a more active and open interaction style because of dominant Extraverted Intuition (NE). While they don’t have the same mysterious reputation that other XNTX types have, the dynamism of the ENTP makes ENTP anime characters some of the coolest yet contradictory figures in fiction.
ENTP Anime Characters Based On Their Cognitive Functions
ENTP anime characters aren’t as typecast into villain roles the way INTJ and ENTJ often are, that said, one of the most popular ENTP characters is none other than Batman’s The Joker. From that, you can probably guess that ENTPs have their own, strange mix of socially charming, forceful, yet intellectual personalities.
The ENTP’s cognitive functions begin with dominant Extraverted Intuition (NE) followed by Introverted Thinking (TI), Extraverted Feeling (FE), and Introverted Sensing (SI).
1. Runa Yomozuki

Runa Yomozuki is a character from the hit 2017 anime Kakegurui, a show about a school for children of elite families who gamble with their family fortunes and their own fates. In this highly stratified society, the tiny and baby-faced Runa Yomozuki somehow sits at the top of the social hierarchy as she is a member of the Student Council and an Election Committee Leader.
Runa is often relaxed and enthusiastic about everything, to the point that she can have a rather lax attitude toward her responsibilities as a student council member. It’s not that EXTPs are not responsible, but it’s more like Runa doesn’t really care for the actual structure of hierarchy beyond what her Extraverted Intuition finds fascinating about it. Her lack of regard for both ethics and morals puts the possibility of Extraverted/Introverted Feeling quite low in her stack so while she is charming, it’s more of a tertiary Extraverted Feeling thing.
As for Introverted Thinking, Runa is very uptight about no cheating in games she monitors – something that her fellow student council members don’t mind doing as far as it helps them maintain the power structures they rely on. To her, the rules of gambling and things being “technically” within the rules are the most important thing about a game.
2. Yato

Okay, Yato could really be either an ESTP or ENTP, either way, he’s a good example of the self-indulgent streak that ENTPs can have. If you’re familiar with the Enneagram, you may recognize this as a common trait of the EXTP 7w8. Yato’s Extraverted dominant function makes him quite unpredictable as he is both open to sudden changes and eager to instigate them to follow his whims.
With Extraverted Feeling coming low on the stack, he cares very little for how his behavior impacts others yet lacks the sensitivity and insecurities around it that the more reserved INTP tends to have.

By the way!

Like Runa, who thinks of the contained logic of gambling as her inviolable guiding rules, Yato thinks of killing others as its own game. Still, that Extraverted Feeling rears its head from time to time as Yato is unable to resist putting himself in risky situations for those he cares about…unfortunately, this doesn’t make him any less ruthless.
4. Shinoa Hiiragi

Shinoa Hiiragi a.k.a Sergeant Shinoa is one of the ENTP anime characters from Seraph of the End. She’s a good example of the social belligerence of EXTPs – like their IXTJ counterparts, they’re not shy about being aggressive with their feeling functions but lack the self-consciousness about it that inferior Extraverted Feeling types (IXTPs) tend to have.
Shinoa is very sarcastic, to the point that it can come across as cruel to others who don’t know her too well. Still, she can be quite warm and cheerful.
Like a lot of XXTPs, she just likes what she does in the military and would much rather be a specialist than a leader of any sort. Though she cares about being better at her job, she doesn’t have the desire to rise up the ranks that her family wanted her to.
4. Bulma

You don’t have to be a massive anime fan to know, or at least, recognize, Bulma from Dragon Ball Z. As an inferior Introverted Sensing type, she can be quite fussy about her personal comfort and pays a ton of attention to her hygiene – even in situations where it should be the least of her concerns.
Dominant Extraverted Intuition makes her curious about the world around her, to the point that she doesn’t mind pushing intellectual, social, and personal boundaries with the help of Introverted Thinking and Extraverted Feeling.
5. Howl

Howl Jenkins Pendragon or just “Howl” is basically a poster boy for all the EXXPs out there so there’s a sizeable argument for him being any of the four EXXP types (i.e. ENTP, ESTP, ESFP, and ENFP).
Howl began his life as a regular kid born to an ordinary family in Wales. However, he was fascinated with magic because of how unconventional it was and how “easy” the rules were to understand compared to the regular world, something that points to Extraverted Intuition and Introverted Thinking.
His tertiary Extraverted Feeling both shows up as charm and blatant disregard for others in a way that, though he may not intend outright, causes harm. This shows in his relationships with women who he tends to string along without even realizing it.
What Makes ENTPs Think That Way?

ENTP (Ne-Ti) characters and people can be confusing, fascinating, and whip-lash-inducing all at the same time. Their dynamic personalities can be explained to some degree by their cognitive functions which are as follows:
- Dominant: Extraverted Intuition
- Auxiliary: Introverted Thinking
- Tertiary: Extraverted Feeling
- Inferior: Introverted Sensing
The ENTP leads with Extraverted Intuition (NE), a perceiving function that likes to explore every possibility, pattern, and the relationship between ideas and concepts. It’s kind of why ENXPs have a reputation for being “random” and going off on tangents. They are fascinated and excited by it as it’s their primary mode of thinking.
Auxiliary Introverted Thinking (TI) is the lead judging function of the XXTP types. It has the responsibility of organizing all of the information they gathered from Extraverted Intuition into one system that tries to account for every either/or scenario. TI loves internal consistency, putting it in contrast with the utilitarian logistics/decision-making-oriented thinking that XXTJs do with Extraverted Thinking.
Tertiary Extraverted Feeling (FE) gives ENTPs a fair degree of comfortableness with navigating social situations. While tertiary Introverted Feeling gives the IXTJs an opinionated streak, tertiary Extraverted Feeling gives EXTPs a charming, even flirtatious streak.
Inferior Introverted Sensing makes ENTPs quite sensitive to experiences that aren’t familiar to them and to situations that separate them from their creature comforts. Since they lead with an extraverted perceiving function, ENTPs aren’t as thrown off by odd situations as their INTP cousins, but they can still be quite fussy about it.
Are You An ENTP?
ENTPs are fascinating people whose charm and affinity for intellectual pursuits make for a killer combination, but other types have their own gifts too.
