All Honkai: Star Rail Characters: A Complete List of HSR’s 5-stars and 4-stars

Honkai: Star Rail, a new space fantasy game from miHoYo, the same developer behind Genshin Impact and Honkai Impact 3rd, was first announced on October 7, 2021, and has since been in beta for further refinement.

Honkai: Star Rail was finally released in April 26, 2023. Fans of the studio who have been lucky enough to get early access to the game have been releasing videos on character gameplay and theory-crafting about how strong the characters will be once they launch.

So far, there are currently 27 gacha characters in Honkai: Star Rail. 14 of these characters are 5-stars while 4-stars make up another 13, bringing us a total of 27 characters for the entire game as of current. If you count the two variants of the Trailblazer, you can say we have 29 or, if you count the Trailblazer as one character, 28 characters in the game.

All Known Honkai: Star Rail 5-Star Characters

1. Bailu

Path: The Abundance

Element: Lightning

Voice Actor:  Su Ling Chan (English), Emiri Kato (Japanese), Duoduo (Chinese), Hyun-jung Cho (Korean)

Bailu is a 5-star character in Honkai: Star Rail who follows The Abundance path, meaning that she can heal her team members. Despite her aquatic character concept, she’s actually a Lightning element character. She is a powerful healer who scales with HP. She also deals a decent amount of damage.

Bailu Skill Preview:

• Singing Among Clouds (Skill): Heals a single ally for 8%-20% of Bailu’s Max HP plus 64-152. Bailu then heals a single ally 2 more times. After each healing, the Outgoing Healing for the next healing is reduced by 15%.

• Leap of Marsh Drakon (Ultimate): Heals all allies for 10.8%-21.6 of Bailu’s Max HP plus 72-171. For allies that are not already “Invigorated”, Bailu “Invigorates” them. For those who are already “Invigorated,” Bailu makes their “Invigoration” last 1 more turn. “Invigoration” can last for 2 turns. This effect cannot stack.

2. Blade

Path: The Destruction

Element: Wind

Voice Actor:  Miki Shinichiro (Japanese)

Blade is a 5-star character who follows The Destruction path, meaning that he’s designed to be a main damage dealer. Blade’s damage scales with his ATK and HP stats.

Blade Skill Preview:

• Hellscape (Skill): Consumes 30% of Blade’s Max HP to Immediately Advance action forward by 100%. In addition, DMG increases by 12%. and Basic ATK “Shard Sword is enhanced to” Forest of Swords for 3 turns). Skill cannot be used while “Forest of Swords still active. If HP is insufficient after using Skill. Blade’s HP will be reduced to 1. This Skill cannot regenerate Energy.

• Death Sentence (Ultimate): Deals 28.8% of Blade’s ATK plus 72% of Max HP as Wind DMG to an enemy and adjacent targets. and 14.4% of Blade’s ATK plus 36% of Max HP as Wind DMG to adjacent targets. Additionally. sets Blade’s current HP to 50% of his Max HP.

3. Bronya

Path: The Harmony

Element: Wind

Voice Actor:  Madeline Reiter (English), Asumi Kana (Japanese), Xieying (Chinese), Bo-hee Lee (Korean)

Honkai Impact 3rd’s Bronya is making a comeback in Honkai: Star Rail as a 5-star character with the same name. In Star Rail, Bronya Rand is the leader of the Silvermane Guards and a respected official in Belobog. 

Bronya Skill Preview:

• Combat Redeployment (Skill): Remove a debuff from an ally, advance their action forward by 100% and increase their DMG dealt by 25% for 1 turn. After target ally takes action, increase their SPD by 25 for 1 turn.

• The Belobog March (Ultimate): Increases the ATK of all allies by 34%, and increases their CRIT DMG equal to 10% of Bronya’s CRIT DMG plus 11% for 2 turns.

4. Clara

Path: The Destruction

Element: Physical

Voice Actor:  Emily Sun (English), Hidaka Rina (Japanese), Zisu (Chinese), Kim Ye-Rim (Korean)

Clara is a 5-star character built for dealing damage. Accompanied by her giant robot, Svarog, Clara tries to survive in the world as an orphan while also longing to have a family. 

Clara Skill Preview:

• Svarog Watches Over You (Skill): Deal Physical damage equal to 71% of Clara’s ATK to all enemy units. Also deals additional Physical damage equal to 110% of Clara’s ATK to enemies marked by Svarog with a Mark of Counter. Using Clara’s skill removes all Marks of Counter.

• Ultimate Promise, Not Command (Ultimate): After using Clara’s ultimate, it reduces the damage dealt to Clara by 16%, and increases the chance of Clara being attacked by enemies for two turns. Also enhances Svarog’s counter so that when an ally is attacked, a counter from Svarog is guaranteed, and its damage multiplier on the target increases by 82%. Adjacent enemies take 50% of the damage dealt to the target. Enhanced Counter can take effect two times.

5. Fu Xuan

Path: The Preservation

Element: Quantum 

Voice Actor:  Hualing (Chinese)

We don’t know a lot about Fu Xuan yet as she was only announced recently. However, we do know from in-game cutscenes that Fu Xuan is either able to see the future through the use of the Omnisia, a supercomputer that divines the future for the Xianzhou. Plus, because The Preservation path is a primarily defensive class, we can infer that Fu Xuan will have defensive capabilities.

6. Gepard

Path: The Preservation

Element: Ice

Voice Actor:  Bryson Baugus (English), Furukawa Makoto (Japanese), Yang Ma (Chinese), Min Seung-woo (Korean)

Like Bronya, Gepard is a 5-star playable character and a member of the Silvermane Guards of Belobog. 

Gepard Skill Overview:

• Intimidating Strike (Skill): Deals Ice damage equal to 100%/230%/250% of Gepard’s ATK to a single enemy, with a 65% base chance to Freeze that enemy for 1 turn. While Frozen, the enemy cannot take action and will take Ice DoT equal to 25%/57.5%/62.5% of Gepard’s ATK each turn.

• Enduring Bulwark (Ultimate): Applies a Shield to all allies, absorbing damage equal to 36%/67.2%/72% of Gepard’s DEF plus 120/267/285 for 3 turns. 

7. Himeko

Path: The Erudition

Element: Fire

Voice Actor:  PJ Mattson (English), Yamazaki Haruka (Japanese), Xiaofei Hou (Chinese), Seo-yeong Kim (Korean)

Himeko Murata may be dead in Honkai Impact 3rd and a yet-to-be-announced archon in Genshin Impact, but she’s alive and well in Honkai: Star Rail. Himeko is a 5-star character who follows The Erudition path and wields the Fire element. The Erudition specializes in AoE damage, making Himeko a potentially powerful ally for your team.

Himeko Skill Preview:

• Molten Detonation (Skill): Deals Fire damage equal to 100%-250% of Himeko’s ATK to a single enemy and Fire damage equal to 40%-100% of Himeko’s ATK to any adjacent enemies.

• Heavenly Flare (Ultimate): When an enemy’s Weakness is Broken, Himeko gains a stack of Charge (max 3 stacks). If Himeko is fully Charged, deals Fire damage equal to 68%-170% of Himeko’s ATK to all enemies after an ally performs an attack and consumes all Charge stacks. Gains 1 stack of Charge at the beginning of the battle.

8. Jing Yuan

Path: The Erudition

Element: Lightning

Voice Actor:  Alejandro Saab (English), Ono Daisuke (Japanese), Sun Ye (Chinese), Ryu-Syeung-gon (Korean)

Jing Yuan is the general who leads the Xianzhou Luofu, putting him in the same faction as Fu Xuan. 

Jing Yuan Skill Preview:

• Rifting Zenith (Skill): Deals Lightning damage equal to 50%/115%/125% of Jing Yuan’s ATK to all enemies and increases Lightning-Lord’s attack count by 2 for the next turn.

• Lightbringer (Ultimate): Deals Lightning damage equal to 120%/224%/240% of Jing Yuan’s ATK to all enemies and increases Lightning-Lord’s attack count by 3 for the next turn.

9. Kafka

Path: The Nihility 

Element: Lightning

Voice Actor: Cheryl Texiera (English), Itok Shizuka (Japanese), Xu Hui (Chinese), Sa Moon-young (Korean)

Kafka is a mysterious young woman with formidable battle skills and a dark background. Kafka is a 5-star playable character following The Nihility path, giving her the ability to debuff her enemies.

Kafka Skill Preview:

• Caressing Moonlight (Skill): Deal 70% of Kafka’s ATK as Lightning damage to a target enemy, and 25% of Kafka’s ATK as Lightning damage to enemies adjacent to the target. If the target enemy already has a DoT, immediately deal damage equal to 100% of all current DoT effects the enemy has. 

• Twilight Trill (Ultimate): deal 36% of Kafka’s ATK as Lightning damage to all enemies. There’s a 100% base chance for the enemies you hit to be shocked and immediately take damage equal to 80% of the received damage. The shock lasts for thre turns. When shocked, enemies receive 60% of Kafka’s ATK as Lighting DoT at the start of their turn. 

10. Luocha

Path: The Abundance

Element: Imaginary

Voice Actor: Ishida Akira (Japanese), Lu Zhao (Chinese)

Luocha is a 5-star healer character who travels the galaxy with a giant coffin on his back. Not much is known about him, other than that he’s an exceptional healer. 

Luocha Skill Preview:

• Prayer of Abyss Flower (Skill): After using his skill, immediately restore a single ally’s HP equal to 57% of Luocha’s ATK plus 248. Meanwhile, Luocha gains 1 stack of Abyss Flower. When an ally’s HP drops below 50%, Luocha will immediately use his skill 1 time on this ally (consumes no skill points). This effect can be triggered again when the conditions are met after Luocha takes action 2 more times.

• Death Wish (Ultimate): Dispels 1 enemy buff and deals Imaginary damage equal to 104% of Luocha’s ATK to all enemies. For every enemy buff dispelled, Luocha gains 1 stack of Abyss Flower.

11. Silver Wolf

Path: The Nihility 

Element: Quantum

Voice Actor: Melissa Fahn (English), Asumi Kana (Japanese), Hanser (Chinese), Jangmi (Korean)

Silver Wolf is a 5-star playable character with hacking skills that let her edit the very data that makes up reality. 

Silver Wolf Skill Preview:

• Allow Changes? (Skill): Deals Quantum damage equal to 70%/161%/175% of Silver Wolf’s ATK to a single enemy, with a 75%/88%/90% base chance to add 1 Weakness of the same Type as a random ally’s ATK Type on the enemy that lasts for 3 turns, and reduce the enemy’s damage resistance to that ATK Type by 20%.

• User Banned (Ultimate): Deals Quantum damage equal to 180%/336%/360% of Silver Wolf’s ATK to a single enemy, with a 100% base chance to cause Entanglement. For each debuff on the enemy, deal an additional Quantum DMG equal to 18%/33.6%/36% of Silver Wolf’s ATK to the enemy, up to 5 times. When Entangled, the enemy’s action is delayed by 40%. At the beginning of the next turn, the enemy receives Quantum DoT equal to 48%/89.6%/96% of Silver Wolf’s ATK.

12. Seele

Path: The Hunt

Element: Quantum

Voice Actor: Molly Zhang (English), Nakahara Mai (Japanese), Yajing Tang (Chinese), Song Ha-Rim (Korean)

Seele is a 5-star character in Honkai: Star Rail that was previously in Honkai Impact 3rd. As a The Hunt path character, she is capable of powerful single-target attacks.

Seele Skill Preview:

• Sheathed Blade (Skill): Deals Quantum damage equal to 110% of Seele’s ATK to a single enemy. Seele gains 25% SPD for 2 turns.

• Butterfly Flurry (Ultimate): Seele enters the buffed state and deals Quantum damage equal to 240% of Seele’s ATK to a single enemy.

13. Welt

Path: The Nihility

Element: Imaginary

Voice Actor: Corey Landis (English), Hosoya Yoshimasa (Japanese)

Welt is a 5-star character in Star Rail and is a long-time member of the Express Crew. He was once a storyboard artist, hence his element, but has since returned to traveling the stars.

Welt Skill Preview:

• Edge of the Void (Skill): Slashes 3 times, each dealing Imaginary DMG equal to 39% of Welt’s ATK to a random enemy. On hit, there is a 66% base chance to reduce the enemy’s SPD by 10% for 2 turns.

• Synthetic Black Hole (Ultimate): Deals Imaginary damage equal to 96% of Welt’s ATK to all enemies. There is a 100% base chance for enemies hit by this ability to be Imprisoned. Imprisoned enemies have their actions delayed by 32% and SPD reduced by 10%.

14. Yanqing

Path: The Hunt

Element: Ice

Voice Actor: Amber May (English), Marina Inoue (Japanese), Miaojiang (Chinese), Sae-ah Yi (Korean)

Yanqing is a 5-stary playable character who serves as the lieutenant of the Xianzhou Luofu. This skilled swordsman is a capable damage dealer. 

Yanqing Skill Preview:

• Drakestoning Edge (Skill): Deals Ice damage equal to 110% of Yanqing’s ATK to a single enemy and activates Empathic Sword Link for 1 turn.

• Swallow’s Pluvious Pursuit (Ultimate): Increases Yanqing’s CRIT Rate by 60%. When Empathic Sword Link is active, increases Yanqing’s CRIT DMG by an extra 30% for 1 turn before dealing Ice DMG equal to 210% of Yanqing’s ATK to a single enemy.

All Known Honkai: Star Rail 4-Star Characters

1. Arlan

Path: The Destruction

Element: Lightning

Voice Actor: Dani Chambers (English), Shiraishi Ryoko (Japanese), Dian Tao (Chinese), Kim Yool (Korean)

Arlan is a 4-star playable character who serves as the head of the security department at the Herta Space Station. 

Arlan Skill Preview:

• Shackle Breaker (Skill): Consumes Arlan’s HP equal to 15% of his Max HP to deal Lightning DMG equal to 160% of Arlan’s ATK to a single enemy. This Skill cannot be used if Arlan’s HP is too low.

• Frenzied Punishment (Ultimate): Deals Lightning DMG equal to 210% of Arlan’s ATK to a single enemy and Lightning DMG equal to 90% of Arlan’s ATK to any adjacent enemies.

2. Asta

Path: The Harmony

Element: Fire

Voice Actor: Felecia Angelle (English), Akatsuki Chinatsu (Japanese), Guiniang (Chinese), Kim Hyeon-ji (Korean)

Asta is a 4-star playable character who serves as the lead astronomer of the Herta Space station. Hence, all of her attacks have a celestial theme to them.

Asta Skill Preview:

• Meteor Storm (Skill): Deals Fire DMG equal to 25% of Asta’s ATK to a single enemy with 4 more bombardments. Each bombardment deals Fire DMG equal to 25% of Asta’s ATK to a random enemy.

• Astral Bleeding (Ultimate): Increases SPD of all allies by 36 for 2 turns.

3. Dan Heng

Path: The Hunt

Element: Wind

Voice Actor: Nicholas Leung (English), Ito Kento (Japanese), Yudong (Chinese), Kim Hye-seong (Korean)

Dan Heng is an elegant young man who travels with the Astral Express. You might have heard him being compared to Zhongli or Kazuha, and for good reason – he’s every bit the graceful Eastern gentleman archetype as the two characters mentioned. 

Dan Heng Skill Preview:

• Knight Spear Technique: Torrent (Skill): Deals Wind damage equal to 130% of Dan Heng’s ATK to a single enemy. On a CRIT Hit, there is a 100% base chance to reduce the target’s SPD by 15% for 2 turns.

• Ethereal Dream (Ultimate): Deals Wind damage equal to 240% of Dan Heng’s ATK to a single enemy. If the enemy is Slowed, Dan Heng’s Ultimate’s DMG multiplier increases by 72%.

4. March 7th

Path: The Preservation

Element: Ice

Voice Actor: Skyler Davenport (English), Ogura Yui (Japanese), Nuoya (Chinese), Jung Hye-won (Korean)

The peppy March 7th is a 4-star playable character who joined the Astral Express after they saved her from being trapped in ice. She’s since then worked alongside the rest of the Astral Express while waiting to learn more about her past.

March 7th Skill Preview:

• The Power of Cuteness(Skill): Provides a single ally with a Shield that can absorb damage equal to 48% of March 7th’s DEF plus 160 for 3 turns. If the ally’s HP is 30% of their Max HP or higher, greatly increases the chance of enemies attacking that ally.

• Glacial Cascade (Ultimate): Deals Ice DMG equal to 90% of March 7th’s ATK to all enemies. On a hit, the enemy has a 50% base chance to be Frozen for 1 turn. While Frozen, the enemy cannot act and will take Ice DoT equal to 30% of March 7th’s ATK at the beginning of each turn.

5. Herta

Path: The Erudition

Element: Ice

Voice Actor: PJ Mattson (English), Yamazaki Haruka (Japanese), Xiaofei Hou (Chinese), Seo-yeong Kim (Korean)

Herta is the mysterious young woman operating the Herta Space Station.

Herta Skill Preview:

• One-Time Offer (Skill): Deals Ice damage equal to 50% of Herta’s ATK to all enemies. If the enemy’s HP is at 50% of their Max HP or higher damage dealt to this target increases by 20%.

• It’s Magic, I Added Some Magic (Ultimate): Deals Ice damage equal to 120% of Herta’s ATK to all enemies.

6. Hook

Path: The Destruction

Element: Fire

Voice Actor: Felecia Angelle (English), Tokui Sora (Japanese), Wang Xiaotong (Chinese), Jae-hyun Lee (Korean)

As the boss of The Moles adventuring squad, Hook takes her job as leader seriously. Hook is a 4-star character following the path of The Destruction, making her a formidable combatant despite her tiny size. 

Hook Skill Preview:

• Hey! Remember Hook? (Skill): Deals Fire damage equal to 120% of Hook’s ATK to a single enemy. In addition, there is a 100% base chance to inflict Burn for 2 turns. When afflicted with Burn, enemies will take Fire DoT equal to 25% of Hook’s ATK at the beginning of each turn.

• Boom! Here Comes the Fire! (Ultimate): Deals Fire damage equal to 240% of Hook’s ATK to a single enemy. After using her Ultimate, the next Skill to be used is Enhanced, which deals DMG to a target enemy and any adjacent enemies.

7. Natasha

Path: The Abundance

Element: Physical

Voice Actor: Elizabeth Maxwell (English), Uchiyama Yumi (Japanese), Qin Ziyi (Chinese), Kang Eun-ae (Korean)

Natasha Skill Preview:

• Love, Heal, and Choose (Skill): Heals a single ally for 9% of Natasha’s Max HP plus 60. Heals the ally for another 6% of Natasha’s Max HP plus 40 at the beginning of each turn for 2 turns.

• Gift of Rebirth (Ultimate): Heals all allies for 11.1% of Natasha’s Max HP plus 74.

8. Pela

Path: The Nihility

Element: Ice

Voice Actor: Xanthe Huynh (English), Morohoshi Sumire (Japanese), Yan Ning (Chinese), Lee Da-eun (Korean)

Pela is the intelligence officer of the Silvermane Guards. She has a rather stern and serious personality, but harbors a love for cute things. 

Pela Skill Preview:

• Frostbite (Skill): Removes 1 buff and deals Ice damage equal to 120% of Pela’s ATK to a single enemy.

• Zone Supression (Ultimate): Deals Ice damage equal to 84% of Pela’s ATK to all enemies, with a base chance of 100% to inflict the Exposed status. Exposed enemies have their DEF reduced by 33% for 2 turns.

9. Qingque

Path: The Erudition

Element: Quantum 

Voice Actor: Bryn Apprill (English, Arisa Date (Japanese), Shisi Liu (Chinese), Da-hye Seo (Korean)

Qingque is a diviner under the Divination Commission that Fu Xuan leads. She’s not a particularly excellent diviner, but she’s come to terms with the realities of working life and just wants to relax in her downtime with mahjong.

Qingque Skill Preview:

• Last Tile Claim(Skill): Immediately draws 2 jade tiles and gains 1 extra turn. Increases the damage of Qingque’s attack by 14%; lasts for 1 turns. This effect may be stacked up to 4 times.

• Four Concealed Fish? Win! (Ultimate): Deals Quantum damage equal to 120% of Qingque’s ATK to all enemies, and changes all current jade tiles to the Fish suit.

10. Sampo

Path: The Nihility

Element: Wind

Voice Actor: Roger Rose (English), Hirakawa Daisuke (Japanese), Liu Sheng Bo (Chinese), Jeong Jae-heon (Korean)

Sampo may be a mercenary, but don’t let this guy’s looks fool you, he can be quite the flirt. Sampo is a 4-star character following The Nihility path and he uses his abilities to serve his customers…as long as no one pays him a higher price.

Sampo Skill Preview:

• Ricochet Love(Skill): Throws a dagger that deals Wind damage equal to 30% of Sampo’s ATK to a single enemy. The dagger will Bounce randomly between enemies up to a maximum of 4 times, each dealing Wind damage equal to 30% of Sampo’s ATK.

• Surprise Present (Ultimate): Deals Wind damage equal to 102% of Sampo’s ATK to all enemies, with a 100% base chance to increase the target’s DoT taken by 21% for 2 turns.

11. Serval

Path: The Erudition

Element: Lightning

Voice Actor: Natalie Van Sistine (English), Aimi (Japanese), Mù Xuê Tíng (Chinese) 

Serval is a rockstar and heir to the Landau family. A talented mechanic, Serval runs a workshop in Belobog.  

Serval Skill Preview:

• Lightning Flash (Skill): Deals Lightning damage equal to 60% of Serval’s ATK to a single enemy and Lightning damage equal to 30% of Serval’s ATK to any adjacent enemies, with an 80% base chance for enemies hit to become Shocked for 2 turns. While Shocked, enemies will take Lightning DoT equal to 40% of Serval’s ATK at the beginning of each turn.

• Here Comes the Mechanical Fever (Ultimate): Deals Lightning damage equal to 108% of Serval’s ATK to all enemies. Enemies already Shocked will extend the duration of their Shock state by 2 turns.

12. Sushang

Path: The Hunt

Element: Physical

Voice Actor:  Anjali Kunapaneni (English), Fukuen Misato (Japanese), Chen Tingting (Chinese), Shi-yoon Park (Korean)

Sushang is a 4-star character serving under the Cloud Knights of the Xianzhou Luofu, led by Jing Yuan. She dreams of becoming as legendary as her senior officers. 

Sushang Skill Preview:

• Knight Sword Art: Mountainfall (Skill): Deals Physical damage equal to 105% of Sushang’s ATK to a single enemy. In addition, after the final hit, there is a 33% chance to trigger Sword Stance, dealing additional Physical damage equal to 50% of Sushang’s ATK to the enemy. If the enemy has Weakness Break, Sword Stance is guaranteed to trigger.

• Shape of Taixu: Dawn Herald (Ultimate): Deals Physical damage equal to 192% of Sushang’s ATK to a single enemy and immediately Advances Forward her actions by 100%. In addition, Sushang’s ATK increases by 18%, and using her Skill has 2 additional chances to trigger Sword Stance for 2 turns. Sword Stance triggered from the additional chances deals 50% of the original damage.

13. Tingyun

Path: The Harmony

Element: Lightning

Voice Actor: Laci Morgan (English), Yuki Takada (Japanese), Jiang Li (Chinese), Myeong-ho Lee (Korean)

Tingyun is the representative of the merchant guild, Whistling Flames, that works under the Xianzhou Luofu. Her primary weapon is her gift for diplomacy, but anyone who can’t be convinced gets to be on the wrong end of her fan.

Tingyun Skill Preview:

• Soothing Melody(Skill): Increases the ATK of a single ally by 25%, up to a value no greater than 15% of Tingyun’s current ATK and Blesses the ally. The Blessed ally deals additional Lightning damage equal to 20% of their ATK when hitting enemies for 3 turns. Bless is only effective on the most recent receiver of Tingyun’s Skill.

• Ritual of the Auspicious Cloude (Ultimate): Regenerates 50 Energy for a target ally and increases the target’s DMG by 20% for 3 turns.

Honkai: Star Rail Players Will Be Playing as the Trailblazer

Despite the dozens of characters that Honkai: Star Rail will have on its release, the game will still start you off with the Trailblazer, a 5-star playable character who will serve as your point-of-view character for the start of the game.

Fans of miHoYo who’ve played Genshin Impact and players of Tower of Fantasy will both feel right at home with Honkai: Star Rail’s protagonist. In Honkai: Star Rail, players will be playing as the Trailblazer. Players can choose between Receptable X, the female Trailblazer, and Receptacle Y, the male Trailblazer. 

Is there a difference between the Trailblazers of Honkai: Star Rail?

Aside from their gender, there doesn’t seem to be a significant difference between the male and female Trailblazers. They may have minute differences in terms of abilities like in Genshin Impact where Aether (Male MC) is faster and Lumine (Female MC) is stronger.
