The name of the genre itself directly comes from the gacha machines that are popular throughout Japan. Games like Wuthering Waves, Honkai: Star Rail, and Genshin Impact are all great gacha games, but some players are looking for a non-anime experience.
As the years go by, gacha-style games will definitely become more and more popular in the West for a few reasons. They’re extremely fun to play — and, more importantly, extremely profitable for the developers. That said, here are 7 of the best non-anime gacha games you should try out.
Warhammer 40K: Tacticus
If you’re looking for a Western gacha game that has a rich existing universe full of lore and excitement, Warhammer 40K: Tacticus has got you covered. The game features characters and factions from the universe: Necrons, Ultramarines, Death Guards, Orks, Black Templars, and more. The game just released last year, so they are still pumping out tons of new content for players.
The gacha odds aren’t bad, and new accounts can easily get 40 Requisition orders within the first few days. These orders give you a chance at new characters and upgrades, but it helps to wait until you have 10 of them. Using 10 at once gives you a guaranteed character, which is definitely nice when you can go dry in other games for tens of pulls.
The combat is entertaining, and there are even raids you can fight against with your guilds. Tacticus also has PvP elements with leaderboards and weekly rewards. The only downside to this game is that the paid packages are pretty pricey, but, like all gacha games, you don’t need to buy them to progress. The devs also release a ton of promo codes with free resources and gear, which definitely makes the grind easier.
Raid: Shadow Legends
Okay, a lot of people hate this game because of the advertising crusade the makers of Raid: Shadow Legends went on, but it’s actually a decent gacha game. If you didn’t download it out of principle because you were sick of hearing about it from your favorite YouTubers and streamers, you might want to give it a shot. It’s a non-anime Western gacha game with some decent mechanics and entertaining gameplay.
The game is visually stunning for a mobile game and even works on PC and Mac. There are a ton of different heroes you can collect and use in your RPG party as you battle your way to the top. Raid is one of the most popular gacha games out there, and it’s pretty obvious why. There are always new codes being released, too, that help new players catch up to veteran players.
Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes
The list of available characters in Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes is absolutely massive, with big names like Darth Revan, Leia Organa, Ahsoka Tano, and even Emperor Palpatine. You can also pull some of the rarer female Sith Lords like Darth Traya or grey Jedi like Jolee Bindo. The graphics are pretty amazing and with the recent upsetting release of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, you might want to turn to Glaxay of Heroes for your Star Wars fix.
The lobby is a cantina and has different holotables for players to explore. Each holotable is a different aspect of the game: light side battles, dark side battles, shipments (store), arena battles, cantina battles, and more. The pulling odds aren’t too bad, and it’s fairly easy to collect loot through battles. The fighting is akin to Final Fantasy, a traditional turn-based game where each character takes an action. All-in-all a decent gacha game for fans of Star Wars.
Marvel Strike Force
There’s no shortage of characters in the Marvel Universe, and Marvel Strike Force definitely has a ton of them. There are over 230 collectible characters that you can use in a bunch of different campaigns. Play as the villains or unite a team of good guys and face off in turn-based combat. There are even limited-time event campaigns you can take part in to level up characters and unlock new ones.

If you’re a fan of Marvel and gacha, this game is like your soulmate. The combat is entertaining, the progression is more fun than grindy, and it’s Marvel. While the shows and movies might be declining in quality for some, the characters themselves are eternal.
Disney Mirrorverse
Another Western gacha game that was released just last year, Disney Mirrorverse, features characters from different films and franchises fighting off against malevolent forces in an effort to protect the mirrorverse. New characters are being added all the time, with Jasmine and Tigger being the most recent additions. You can also find characters like Scrooge McDuck, Woody, and Oogie Boogie.
The mechanics are pretty standard for a gacha game, but the fact that you get to play as your favorite childhood character makes it better than the rest. The combat itself, however, is different than your standard turn-based systems. Inside each battle, you manually move and control your character and decide when they attack in real-time. The map that your fight across with different rewards and unlocks easily accumulated along the way.
Gems of War
Gems of War combines the popular matchmaking genre with gacha and RPG elements. The tutorial immediately teaches you how to play, but the gist is that you match gems that generate mana for your characters so that they can cast spells. Spells can either buff your troops, damage enemies, or even heal your team.
Gems of War is available on different platforms but is easily played on the go from your mobile phone. It’s been out for almost a decade, so it definitely has a lot of content to offer players who are just getting started. We liked this one because it offers a twist on the typical gacha rpg games and combines the popular matchmaking element as seen in Candy Crush or Royal Match.
Knighthood
The graphics in Knighthood are creative and feel extremely original. It’s like a low poly combination of medieval knights and high fantasy. The game does understand that not everyone can be a whale, so they offer quite a few incentives and bonuses for players that remain strictly free-to-play.
Like other gacha games, Knighthood has PvP, PvE, and raids. The game is constantly being updated with new characters, content, and items. It’s been around for a few years now, but the devs continue to listen to players and actually seem to care about their player base, unlike other games that shall not be mentioned.
